This hit man has a heart of gold – or maybe he just really wanted an iPod.
According to a police report, an unknown suspect armed with a knife forced his way into a Brighton woman's apartment yesterday at 7 a.m., telling the victim his friends had paid him $3,000 to kill her – but he would not.
The 23-year-old victim said she was returning home and unlocking the inner lobby door at 1880 Commonwealth Ave. when the suspect came up from behind wielding a long serrated knife.
He demanded she let him into her second-floor home, did a quick sweep of the apartment, then told her to count to 50. He fled out the back door, leaving her with her life – but without her Sovereign Bank ATM card or her roommate's pink iPod Mini.
Nothing else was taken, although a laptop and other electronics were in plain view.
The suspect was described as stocky, about 30 years old, wearing a green ball cap, white T-shirt and jeans and having a slight accent.
Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
