Some cats can reach age 20 and more. A cat's longevity can depend on whether or not it has lived indoors or is allowed outdoors (outdoor cats live an average of eight or nine years) . It can be based on genetics, feeding, enviroment, and If they were taken to the vet for check-ups regularly, that plays a big part. My old neighbor had a cat that she had for 22 years, so I think it depends on the cat. Though the general consensus is that at about age seven a cat can be considered "middle-aged", and at age 10 and beyond - getting up there. Your cat seems to be a tough little cookie. I wouldn't be too concerned

lets see.. Smokey would be close to 25 now. And Peaches is sneaking up on 20. Patrick is about 16. (my mom's and my friend's cats.) the longest i've ever had a cat was Thor, he was close to 27 when he packed up his little kitty bags and left town. Bitster was 17 and the only reason he quit is because he was really sick. I've had a lot of cats. They all get to be about 14 at the youngest. But i read somwhere that the average life span is like 12 years. Ionly hope Nocturna and Zim live that long...

It also depend on the breed, diet, and limitless other factors.

    For example:

A Poodle in good health lives for around 15 to 18 years, While a Great Dame can live to around 20 years or more.
A St. Bernard is also supposed to be a long lived dog as well.

Tarantula's and certain other spiders live around 15 years.

A Queen Ant can live around for about around 15 to 30 years, while a Worker Ant lives around 8 to 15 years. A Male ant only lives for a few weeks though.

Reason for that is: Queens need to live longer to support the community. The Worker is supposed to take care of the Queen and other members of the Ant Colony.
While Males only live for a few weeks to a few months, because all they are supposed to do, is to mate with the Queen, then Die afterwards.

Well, they say "outside cats" live longer, but have more health problems than "inside" ones. I've met cats that are nineteen years old and seen really frisky ten+ years ones. But, it's odd about cats. It seems their life is really about luck and how run-down they get. Most cats I've rarely seen live past fifteen, in my experience. I guess the big thing is being ready, as much as you can, for when a loved one dies. To me, if it's such a question or concern, perhaps it is time to "get one's house in order."
