you can go to jail for tax evasion.
you can gamble in some states.

you can join the military/ be drafted.

I turned 18 ten years ago. I had just graduated high school and was planning to go to college. Things seemed so bright then... I had no idea how far down I was about to fall. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be able to just claw my way back to where I was at 18. damn. god damn.

It's just that when you are a teenager, it seems really shitty living at home, and you want to get out in the world, make money, party, be free, be on your own, etc, and anything seems like it would be better than living with your parents. But once you get out on your own, then it's all about where to live, how to pay the rent, how to get a job, working all the time at some shitty job, dealing with idiotic roomates, etc, etc... So pretty soon, after years of "the real world", life back in high school actually looks pretty fun when you look back on it...

In my case, I really did *not* like high school. But I did enjoy college, and missed it when I was in the work world... It was a lot more fun just going to classes and partying on the weekends... Classes are a lot more fun that most people's average job. The only benefit is a paycheck. Which is cool, but in some ways not worth the 9-5 work life...
