Who wanted to go to Narnia as a child? I know I wanted to go to Narnia so very very badly.
Who wanted to go to Narnia as a child? I know I wanted to go to Narnia so very very badly.
I STILL want to go...
i had never even Heard of it till recently...
haha, guess i was in my own little world when i was a kid...
now that i watch it,it's a little familier,but i still don't think i ever knew about it.
I spent hrs sitting in my closet wearing my big winter coat waiting for the back wall of the narrow dark space to be lit by a lamp post. I still want to winter at Cair Paravel and play chess with a talking mouse.Oh tea with centaurs and dancing with giants *sigh*

I ached to go to Narnia so badly as a kid that watching that trailer today still felt like a fist squeezing around my heart.
It was a lot like the feeling I got years later, watching MTV, back when they played videos of these wonderful exciting fantasy worlds. Only the Narnia draw was stronger and I guess I eventually did cross through that MTV wardrobe.
I did.. but then i read the Amber series.. and the Mode series, and now i don't know where I am or who I am..
Could someone leave a message for me to call me thank you
I can't wait for the movie. :[
I've always enjoyed the phrase "He's so far in the closet he's found Narnia".....does that count?
I really want to see that movie. Narnia brings back many many memories for me. Mostly good ones.
I heard, 'He's so far back in the closet, he's finding christmas presents'. O.oOriginally Posted by Rockwulf
Well that really has nothing to do with the conversation now, does it?Originally Posted by cheinara wraithwalker
Yup. I even used to look for it in the closets of my best friend's house. We only had creepy closets at our house. *chuckle*

Speaking of Narnia, and Halloween being so close. I just thought I would mention that I'm going as Bacchus this year. There was a bit of his antics in Prince Caspian I believe. It's all part of my obsession with drinking, dancing and chasing the fawns. Damn I want to be a Satyr, I wouldn't even mind the hooves, they are kinda like boots I guess.![]()
Ugh, how could you stand the puns? I read those books in elementary school and I still turn green at the thoughtOriginally Posted by Evilbink

I never got Narnia as a kid. I was deprived.
Fantastica, though, I STILL want to go to. I will travel through the forest of snapping orchids, and dwell inside the Seeing Hand, where I will amuse myself by throwing things down the bottomless pit.
Doesn't sound very amusing......you don't even get a cool splat sound. The only amusing thing I can think of is a human being who you could hear screaming all the way down....not that I've put any thought into this or anything...Originally Posted by Umbilical Lotus
there was a old animated version of "The Loin , The Witch and the Wardrobe" I watched as a kid, anyone else remember this old classic show? it was released back in '79
I recall watching a miniseries version many years ago.
I want to go to Narnia now.
That's a classic...hit DVD recently too. Gonna have to pick it up.Originally Posted by Spaceman Spiff

I actually can't wait until the NEW MOVIE comes out...its going to be awesome.![]()
yeah wtf is turkish delight?
or was that just supposed to be an inuendo for heroin?
My mom bought me some of that when I was real little. If I remember right, it's like a toffee.Originally Posted by Morning Glory

Turkish Delight is like jelly candy covered in chocolate. I wasn't really impressed but I guess when you grow up without Reeses' you have different tastes. I'd have asked for toffees ot taffys but well that's me. The toffees do make an apperance in Magician's Nephew (my fave of the Narnia books).

Ok..."Amber" series...."MODE" series....
Clue me in, I want to read whatever.
I actually DID think 'turkish delight' for a while was an offhand reference to heroin. He uses so many offhanded references in his characters (lion=jesus, etc) that one would feign to think so.
To me, the series is one of the most brilliantly written and disgused christian testaments. You get the message...without him pushing it down your throat..and it all seems like a fantasy...
I completely missed the religious overtones as a kid, just loved the wonderful world they were able to escape to where they had meaning, purpose, and adventures.Originally Posted by sunkarma
Nine Princes in Amber is the best of that series, but it was no Narnia, at least not for me.
Where does one get Turkish Delight?Originally Posted by keiko
I used to buy it at the base commissary or at the one british meat market in Satellite beach alo the Faulty Towers hotel in Cocoa beach carried some interesting UK groceries. I could have my air force buddies in europe send me some to share if I can't find any by x-mas. I promise to share.Originally Posted by AmeliaG

I think there's a turkish delight-based candy bar up here in Canada called Big Turk (now there's an unfortunate name for a sweet). I've never had it, though; I've never been big on the substance.Originally Posted by AmeliaG

You'll have to get one and scan it for the pic...I love that.
Oh, the freudian notions of that name...and the fact that it's a candy bar (reference to male sex organ as far as iconography in a psychological sense)
Oh geez...that is so funny.
apparently this stuff is the descendant of the jelly bean.
Lets go I'll drive.Originally Posted by AmeliaG

AC yes. But given it's cold out and Narnia is in winter we'll be kicking the heater.Originally Posted by Morning Glory

This place has alot of good stuff. Even the yummy candy bars they don't have in the US. YUM! BTW, I find Turkish Delight yummy. Possibly because of the memory involved with it. The first time I had it was when I was young, around Narnia reading age. It was a Christmas present. Second was when I was living with a host family for my first weekend in England. The dad was named Ray, and he cracked me up. After dinner, he brought out samples of his vast collection of sweets, and let me have a little of each, Turkish Delight being one of them.![]()
And, I have to stick with EvilBlink. I wanted to go to Xanth very badly as a young person as well. I would still go I think. Although Narnia is VERY tempting. I just want to run away from home.
