For the most part they are. But alcohol isn't federally regulated, it's on a state-by-state basis. I'm from Pennsylvania which was founded by Quakers and Puritans and maintains the archaic policys and laws set down at the time of our founding.

One of the few barriers left to our modernizing our liquor laws is money. The liquor stores are all state run and provide several billion dollars a year in revenue to the state. If they were to privatize the liquor industry, they'd have to raise taxes dramatically to compensate for the financial loss.

Considering most people are happier buying liquor in confined hours than paying higher taxes across the board, the laws probably aren't changing in any ways.

yeah not much is open here after 11pm either, cept maybe cold beer and wine stores... and theyre more expensive and they close early too, but the cool thing is theyre open sundays
