That i finally figure out what I want to do for a career...

Ive enrolled in school. Im so excited i can barely wait! This is a career that I talked about and got excited and all fuzzy feeling iniside about.

Im gonna be a truck driver!! WOOO HOOO!! i cant wait to get behind the wheel and on the road in one of those big rigs for those nationwide hauls!!!

I have a friend who just retired from truck driving. it's not necessarily an easy life, the long haul is okay, so long as you're alert, and such... it's the drop off, and pick ups in cities, and at warehouses, dealing with dispatchers, etc. that can be a pain... but all in all not bad...

Congrats. I have a buddy that did that for a while ...the only down side was the lack of communication on the road, he would go out and we wouldn't hear from him for months...I think his cellphone is at partial fault.

I think it's cool that people think about unconventional careers.

It actually pays pretty well, because not too many people like being
away from their families for such extended time periods.

It's a good job if you're a loner.

You can listen to music, etc...

But yes, as a female trucker, you have to look out for the other truckers,
drug addiction, and other perils of the road. But if you can keep it safe,
it can be a cool way to make some money, so you can save up to do
something else later, if you decide it's not for you...

But I give props to anyone willing to try something.

If working at the mall isn't doing it for you, join the army.
If working at a call center sucks, try being a trucker.
If working as a waitress is lame, try joining the peace corps.

There are always options.

When people get depressed, or suicidal, etc, I tell them to try a new life.
New place, new career, new friends, etc...

Try something new.

Eventually you'll find something you like.

Yep, seriously. Starting off Ill be making about .42 cents a mile if i decide to do solo hauls. I have a friend thats been driving for three years whos offered to do team with me, but the pay isnt much more and you have to split it;[ so itll be nice making about 40,000 my first two years, and then jumping up to about 60k my third going on up. If I have a great driving record for 6 months Im qualified then to become a driver trainer making about 100K a year.

Im hoping to get on with a company thatll have me hauling through the southern states so I dont have to worry about nasty weather too much, but Ill be happy driving for a company that caters to 48 state hauls.

Plus, I can take my kitty with me, and a passenger if I want since Im going to pick a company with those benefits.

Well, i honestly think that i was put on this earth to be a wanderer. I am happy when Im roaming and not tied down in one area too long. My whole family agrees, lol. Its hard work, and Im sur the hauls get longer and longer the more you do it, but I honestly dont think anything else i could do would make me happier unless it was working on classic cars or building motorcycles.

Hahahaha, as a matter of fact, I was explaining to my friend how truckers communicate through the CBs. Ill also have my laptop along always, I believe the truck stops have wireless abilities.
