Ale's Well That Ends Well
Updated: 10:20, Tuesday March 14, 2006
A woman in Norway thought she was in heaven when beer started coming out her kitchen tap.
A plumbing mix-up meant Haldis Gundersen's water supply had been replaced with ale.
Two flights below, employees and customers at the Big Tower Bar in Kristiandsund were horrified to see water coming out of the beer taps.
It was soon discovered the beer hoses to the bar had been accidentally hooked up to water pipes for Gundersen's flat.
"We had settled down for a cozy Saturday evening, had a nice dinner, and I was just going to clean up a little," the 50-year-old said.
"I turned on the tap to clean some knives and forks, and beer came out. We thought we were in heaven."
However, she said the beer was flat and not at all tempting.
Per Egil Myrvang, of the local beer distributor, said he helped bartenders reconnect the pipes by telephone.
"The water and beer pipes do touch each other but you have to be really creative to connect them together," he said.
