Some of you may know that I'm in the Canadian army. On monday I'm leaving to go on a training exercise for a recruit course that I'm instructing on. Besides the fact of the recruits being able to apply all the training they were taught, they also get to see that it's not like hollywood war/action movies. For example we use simunition which is like a paintball but is fired from real weapons and travels alot faster and leaves one hell of a bruise if you're hit, they'll see that if you try to do some kind of "Rambo roll" or something most likely you will get hit.
Also they will find out that it takes a person with a certain constitution to keep doing the job for an extended period of time. Getting maybe 3 hours of sleep, patrolling through waist/chest high swamps, living with all the nasty little creepy crawlies, and being cold wet and hungry.
I'll take some pictures of it so you can see what happened throughout the exercise, and maybe I'll even post a pic of myself (I guess it's about time.) Anyway I shall return on Saturday to see what's new and regal you with stories of derring do.
