    Default Holding.

    Anyone else hate being put on hold, and then after about 15 minutes no one picks up, and the sub-par elevator music keeps repeating, and those god damned phrases "Thanks for holding, we'll be right with you" and "Every effort is being made to make your wait as short as possible, thanks for holding."

    This is fuckin pissing me the fuck off... I just want to talk to fuckin customer service.

    what i hate more is when you phone rings and when you pick up you hear "please hold for a very important call, the next representitive will be with you" fuck that, I always hang upl, if it was that fucking important youd give me a damn person to talk to or tell me who you are!

    Take one tape or MP3 player, and a selection of elevator musak...

    Once you get through, and you're in the middle of your conversation, put them on hold.

    It's real fun to hear what they start saying to each other.

    If I call and get put on hold for more
    than 5 minutes, I hang up and call back
    and repeat the 5 minute routine until I
    get through.... then immediately ask for
    a supervisor and unload my disgruntledness
    out on them... that's why they make the
    big bucks... fuck 'em. I have a 98% success
    rate in problem solving using that method.

    And I feel for you, especially if you are dealing
    with Qwest... I've been tracking them asshats
    down for the last 3 weeks... but think I've got
    it resolved now.... or at least within a couple hours.

    i honestly dont care that im on hold, though they do need more people to work wherever they are stationed, i know they more than likely hate the job and are tired of people yelling at them all the time.......though i am with pull~my~hair when it comes to the tellimarketing shit, that is just rediculous

    hahaa... yeah i actually heard somewhere that if you get put on hold for more than a couple minutes... just hang up and call back. usually it works.
    heard that on tv or some shit... i dunno.
    phones suck.

    if i'm dealing with someone local, i visit them in person. if they keep me waiting in the office longer than five minutes, i start bending the legs of the furniture.

    also. there are one or two websites that list ways to get through the modern PABX systemn - a lot of companies can't waste time keeping out their own salespeople, so often you can press * 1 or something and get through to a living human being straight away. experiment! what else are you going to be doing while waiting?
