Do any of you give to charity? If so, what do you choose to donate to?

I used to... but after getting
    screwed by a couple benefits
I did... it all left a bad taste.

I find it much easier to give
    where it's needed directly,
    instead of a large corporate
    money laundering scheme....
and at this point, I'm my
    favourite charity since I have
    not the resources nor funds
    for myself let alone anyone
    else right now.

whoops, as for the question goes.. I don't really attend thousand dollar plate dinners to save the owls and shit, but I usually always give my change to any local childrens/medicine organizations like that have the donation jars around town and really just to anyone that I think can use it more then I can. also most of the cds and books that I buy are benefits IE: they are put out to raise money for a particular charitable cause.

I volunteer myself to "The Bondage Clown Youth Of Tomorrow" Foundation... Converting 15 Teens into Midget lovers everyday.

Hey someone had to do it....

Seriously, I try to do volunteer things at theatres... Better than donating money.. I think

    charity.. interesting idea.

let's see. i've got just enough money for the rent this month. and the electricity bill. no money for food or new clothing, though.

hey! let's give all of the money to the "Save the Tawny-Mouth Possum" charity! brilliant. that will make everything ALL BETTER.

i give sharity on an individual basis, within my extremely limited means. i give lifts to hitch-hikers (despite this being illegal here). i regularly do dictation for a disabled friend who's too sick to type.

    ...

SF writer Theodore Sturgeon once said he wanted to march up to the front of the church, past the collection dudes and the priest, and slap a $100 down on the altar, saying "That's for God. nobody else touch it."

pretty much everywhere in canada and the US its illegal i think :S i see signs everywhere saying its illegal to pick up hitch hikers, but people do anyways. i guess most of them arent serial killers

my friend jessi is enrolled to do the weekend to end breast cancer walk here in vancouver, which is totally awesome, its 60 km over 2 days, and she has to raise 2000 dollars just to be in the walk itself, and it all goes to breast cancer research. me and her are thinking up ideas to raise money for her walk hah if anyone has any ideas too, lemme know!

    go jessi!!!

well... I DON'T give money to beggars knowing where it goes As you should know I come from country formaly known as Yugoslavia and one of the biggest minorities in YU were gipsies... and story goes like this: make as much kids you can to beg for you, disable them as a babies so they can beg more efficient for you... you know, they realy break your legs as a baby so you could get more chance to get the money...

I personaly knew one "chief" of the family back in my hometown... he has big 2 floors house, 2 cars, lot's of gold (funny gipsies trade all they can in gold) and when I asked him once why does he still beg he answered: How do you think I gained all this wealth you fool... and I felt like a fool back then

Ha ha , yeah I remeber those gypsies, here's what I'd do, I'd hand them pliers(yeah, I cant leave home without pliers) point at thier gold teeth and say "I PAY, I PAY" . Besides, gypsies aren't beggars, they're gypsies, and I do love the way they can rob the dummies, they are true artists
