Fatone, 29, who was the first 'N Sync bandmate to find out Bass is gay. "I back him up 100 percent."
hehe...
That made me giggle IRL. Thanks for the link.
oh geez.
Good for him.
yea but something happened with the 1 million he needed to fly into space or something like that. he couldnt come up with the extra funds?? so it never happened.
this is going to ruin the lives of some girls i know, but i guess i know a couple of guys who will be really excited to hear this... hmm. there is balance in the force.
so is that why justin timberlake left n'sync? st may not wanna tell you guys this but guess waht I found in the room? lol A postcard of lance!
His sexual preference should not have mattered to begin with. It is kind of ironic I s'pose.

*gasp* i think i'm going to have a heart attack and die from NOT suprise.
I agree OEC, shouldn't have anything to do with hs musical ability etc. but hey, this is a nation of shallow people.
K
Do you think the shallowness is inherent in the people? Or is it somehow a product of media saturation? I read a bunch of media deconstruction this summer and the question remained.Originally Posted by keiko

I think that the only culture America has is it's pop culture which is dictated by the media. The 48-51% (+/- 3%) of people in this country that will do/think/wear anything Vouge/MTV tells them is the In Thing are by very definition as shallow as a tv screen. It's a joint Evil this media/people combination that sadly defines this nation. So yes.

i agree, but it's not really the musical ability that counts, if i am not mistaken. it's the "teen heart throb" quality. their/his music & merch would not have been labeled as "harmless" in the type of community i am from if he'd been openly gay, not to mention the fact that twelve year old girls don't normally go quite as crazy over (i.e. "I'M THE FUTURE MRS. BASS") homosexual men.Originally Posted by OneEyedCat

pffff.
i just thought it was funny. I got nothing against gay people, being a former drag queen and all.
The marketing is very effective. I think that, from the 60s forward, people have been sold things that are supposed to distinguish them. If they want to continue to distinguish themselves, they invariably have to have the latest "hip" consumer goods. This differs a bit from the 50s "keep up with the Joneses" altho many will still seek the status symbols.Originally Posted by keiko

Bass is probably more marketable now than ever. I've always felt that if I had say "OEC Inc", I could sell "Anti-OEC" merchandise at the same time. I think many corps are doing just that.Originally Posted by Sara X

I work with gay people and I have heard strange things...
One person said "He is probably saying this, becasue he is broke and wanted the attention."
Another said " WHOO HOOO... I wonder if he is a top or bottom?"
I could care less... See my post about the two celebs that broke up...
