    Default Serial Killers & Murderers

There have been a few in the news as of late, the two Arizona men come to mind. Yesterday my Dad called me and told me they found a body 5 minutes from my apartment on a dirt road in a field. There was a serial killer in this area about 39 years ago by the name of John Norman Collins. The murders were dubbed The Co-Ed Killings. The first body was found on August 8, 1967.The body found yesterday was that of a male and foul play does seem to be the case. Have any of you ever wondered what it would be like to be a target of one of the psychos or do you just not even worry about it? I have a weapon but if you are caught unaware, that does you no good. Plus, you can't take a gun with you, it's a two year offense here..automatically.

theres been a few dead bodies dumped down the road next to my neighborhood, the closest one was about no more than 3 or 4 hundred feet from my house, this was about 2 years ago i think. I dont think anyone here really pays too much attention to that kinda stuff. To answer your question, no i really dont worry about it, i mean i keep to myself and stray away from the type of lifestyle that would for some reason have me killed or shot or something. It aint my problem!

where i grew up dead bodies were just a normal occurance. i never actually saw one, but i'd see plenty of blood, on side walks, walls, porches... i used to go around heavily armed.

bottom line is, if some one REALLY wants you dead... it's hard to lead a normal life if you're constantly worried about nuts with high powered rifles, or poisoned food...

random violence is easier. being aware of your surroundings, and not looking like an easy target.

    GnArKiLL,
With all due respect, I am curious about your response. Let me see if I have this correct, if not.. please put me in the right direction. In essence what you are saying is that people murdered, were somehow asking for it or in the wrong lifestyle? You say : “ i mean i keep to myself and stray away from the type of lifestyle that would for some reason have me killed or shot or something”. We all read about the drug - addicted prostitutes that get murdered, or the junkies out late at night but they were still someone’s family. They aren’t any less of a human being in my eyes. Murder isn’t always defined by a socioeconomic background and that’s a fact. If you really believe that, tell that to all the college co-ed’s murdered over the years from wealthy families. Many who were minding their own business, earning their degrees and sleeping when they got murdered.

Theres always going to be senseless tragic murders but to use what you said as an example, you cant really say a college coed has the same odds of being killed than a prostitude or junkie. More people get murdered for being involved in some bad stuff than people murdered from random psychos.

it's true, there are things you can do that will DRAMATICALLY decrease your likelihood of being killed. like, i dunno... say... locking your doors... i nearly shit myself when i hear people say 'oh, we never lock our doors.' yeah, somebody can find a way to break into your house...but then again, if they have to take the time to do it, that eliminates a certain percentage of folks who aren't going to bother with that... locking, windows, shades, blah, blah...

ironically one of the biggest things you can do to dramatically INCREASE the likelihood of your being murdered in your home, is to keep a gun there. since most murders are family things, spur of the moment, heat of anger type deals...

random violence is tough, because it's random...

    you get the idea.

There was one serial killer or murderer, wish I could remember which one, who only went into houses that were unlocked.

I worry about it sometimes. Mostly late at night when I am laying bed looking out our large windows that cover the two walls in front of the bed. I try not to think about it but I do mostly watch real crime tv shows. It has jaded me and at the same time made me more weary of those around me.

In NZ were i come from we have a big problem with "p" addicts (methanphedimene freaks) who begin to suffer from psicosis a few months into useage. these people get violent, really violent. not the kind of shoot someone and leve them in a feild kinda violent but more along the lines of: kiddnap two women and hide out in a barn while cutting bits of the kiddnapies with a samuri sword for two stright days before being shot by the police, kind of violence, he had never met the two women and his last words were that the ailens were coming. random violent nutcases and psicos canot be preempted, they just happen.

I grew up in the midst of (as in smack in the middle of the hunting grounds and dumping grounds of) the Green River Killer. After that I really don't worry about it overmuch. If some crazed who knows what has a hard on to kill me about the only thing I think I can really do about it is make damn sure he/she/it/whatever gets fucked up taking me out.

There have been murders in this area, but no serial killers. Unless you count the bushrangers, old century shit they are, but they killed more than just a few people...

yeah there is a very low occurance of serial killers in comparison to, say, the number of deaths caused by sofas falling down a flight of stairs. being murdered is a little bit more likely... you never know who would fucking knife you over $20. i try not to go around scared though, even if i rarely go anywhere alone (i get hassled a lot by creeps if i go out by myself). i'm sure my chances of dying a horrible death at the hands of some psycho are greatly improved by being a dancer. sigh.

if a serial killer ever goes after girls with blue hair, i'm totally screwed.
