The following articles go a long way to mending the "Satanic Cultist" image that Goths have acquired lately...

although this is very inaccurate in spots, and chalk full of stereotypes..I enjoy and appriciate the intentions that the author had..
its a nice change in pace. We are peaceful folk lol
now just to spread the word.... but wasn't all those statements already obvious
Obvious, yes. Believable? Not unless there was a scientific study to back it up.Which, now we have. So Rejoice! And yeah, it was loaded with stereotypes and they called Americans "Mallgoths" (which I DESPISE) but I digress.Originally Posted by OliX

So what the authors are saying is that to make your own way in society and stand up for your sense of individuality takes more than a little intelligence, which then draws said black-clad person into NASA via MIT/Oxford. We've known this all along (you'd be pleasantly surprised how many studio CEOs start smiling when you mention 70's goth bands) - and the mass media knows it of course (name an intelligent goth in mainstream TV. Go on. Name one. Apart from Pauley P....).
My point is, the same can be applied to punk, ska, 80's hair metal, Jewish bluegrass - the minorities amongst society are always thought of as "mad, bad and dangerous to know", but generally make far better drinking buddies and bank managers than the sheep who follow the mainstream. It's just that we look like we're going to bleed your rabbit dry and paint your grandmother's house with the blood, so no matter how many articles are written about being 'human', 90% of the world will still cross the road when they see us coming.
Which is a good thing of course. Can't be a minority if everyone joins in.

I don't own a top hat, I'm not a hat person. But I do own a Corset. I was convinced to get it by my wife (I think he just wanted to get her own back for all the times I've laced her into her's)
So nice to get a break from the everyday crap that you usualy hear ~ now just to show my parents
Quit diffrent from all the stupid articles my parents left in my room telling me how Goths are drug addicts, sex freaks, who are out to kill themselves and everyone around them.
I didnt/dont even consider myself goth, but they still left the articles, trying to make a point.
But have no fear, in my parents eyes now I'm punk. Father: "you're a punk rocker girl right?"
Can't wait til they hear about emo.
But anyway. That really is a breath of fresh air to read. Minus the mallgoth thing.
oh I love my hat, it ain't no top hat though, it's a cool hat
