I voted just so I could stick it to the man!
I voted early. ^_^
Eeeee -giddy for the results today-
i didnt register in time ):
I suck
Why can't you register at the polling station?
You had to of registed a few months in advance.
That seems like a dumb way to do it. Here you can register at the polling station. Is it like that where you live too?
i am a good little cog.
now, if they actually count our votes....
I'm waiting for the stories to come out about all the hacked voting machines and how, somehow even though it's a mid-term election, they caused Bush to win another term.
Toe Cutter - Huhn. I thought it was a national thing. Yeah, here you had to of been registered in advance. And also, which is bad for college kids who just turned 18, your first vote can not be an absentee ballot. So, if you are dorming, you gotta change your addy in advance or fly/drive down back home.
Rockwulf - There's already plenty of stories where the electronic voting fucked up. The one that takes the cake is the one with the squirel who chewed on the powerlines and took out the power in the polling station. [Some other station even had a bomb threat. ]
Nope, we do it the old fasioned way up here. You can register the day of, and we still use paper ballots. We are so cozy and folksy up here you don't even need an ID. You can have a friend vouch for you if they have an ID. True!
Shoot, doing it your way is crazy. How and the hell are busy people supposed to vote? No wonder turn out is so low. If I had to go to the f-ing DMV to register I may not vote either.
I think that Tuesday might be 95% of the problem. Why do we cast our ballots in the middle of the week? Why not, say, Saturday mornings? or even make it a Monday and give everyone the day off? Esp considerig that so many Americans can't afford to take time of from work to go vote- or heck take long lunches to go vote, even the registered voters. Hecne te abysmal 60% turnout. You know that more ppl voted for "so you think you can dance" and "americna idol" than voted in te last election? Know why? They could vote from thier living room at 9 pm. They didn't have to take time out of the busy part of thier day and drive down to the veterans center, which is where?, and have the decrepit little old lady show them how to vote. *sigh*

I agree, of course. Tuesday is lame, I myself have work. But that's why there's early voting, avoid the rush and you don't have to lose time off work. ^_^Originally Posted by keiko
You are currently in FL, aye? I know they have early voting there.
Hehe, I voted today. The computer system is pretty cool and very easy to use.
Personaly however, i'm afraid of hackers.
Let us just say when the country has gone to hell in the morning I will have a little something to complain about
wow, rockwulf is right... they've finally figured out how to get el presidente a third term!
Because there's no way in hell my lazy ass is getting up early on saturday morning to vote. The polls are open until 8pm and from 7am, so no matter what shift you work, everyone oughtta be able to get out.Originally Posted by keiko
yeah i voted, and it looks like the Dems are sweeping the house. finnaly the president will actually be kept at least somewhat in check.
Oh, that's so cute! You think checks and balances still matter.
*runs to the "Kids are so innocent" thread*
well, we'll see about that... these are the democrats we're talking about...
but yeah, seems they've got the house, it looks close for the senate.
sadly, kinky friedman looks to have lost for texas' govenor.
the abortion ban looks like it's going down in flames in s.dakota.
i'm a hardcore political junkie in the tradition of HST's "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72" ...one of the first books i ever read in fact... i've been 'in recovery' for years now, but it's a vicious ugly addiction that never truly seems to go away.
it sure made a big difference when clinton was in office. It only seems like it hasnt been working lately because republicans have been in control of all three branches of federal govt.Originally Posted by Rockwulf
Considering at the moment Tennesee is one of the final four states for the Senate, I figure this is relevant. From a police officer:
"Bob Corker is one of the crookedest politicians I've ever seen run for Tennesee. He's really a bad person. But, on the other hand, Harold Ford is a niger."
He voted for Bob Corker.
yay klin-ton the most successful moderate republican president in history.
Well, aparently as I wrote that Corker was declared the winner. =/
lovely.
i think i'll scratch tennesse off my travel list.
that piece of shit measure requiring notice to parents of abortion seeking teens went down in flames...thank god...
Oh, wow, really? I wouldn't of figured it would fail, but that's good to hear.Originally Posted by Pull~My~Hair

Keiko, between that news and Britney Spears being single again, this might be the best day I've had in a week.

Note to self: never try to get married on election day. its pointless.

-.-
I didn't vote again. feel free to blame me for george bush, global warming, world starvation, deforestation, the holocaust, high taxes, your own sexual impotence. I'm proud to do my part to represent the third party that helps inneffective liberals sleep comfortably at night.
What took you so long, Morning Glory?
