So yeah, I've left the lovely world of blueblood for awhile. & oh how I have missed it.

    But yeah, blarg.

I've been good, I suppose. Things are a changin.

    aaaaaaaaaand

I have big news (good and bad)

    First! the good news

Anthony (nonamepunk) and I are getting married.

    & now the bad news-
    he left for afghanistan yesterday

    so yay & boo.

we tried getting married before he left. (we found out monday, when he was leaving) but well, they wont give you a marriage license on election day appearantly.
and things just wouldnt work out so we couldnt get it done before he left.

but we are looking into a proxy marriage or just waiting til he gets back. but yay we are engaged

    stupid army.

Maybe wait till after high school too. I can speak from experience, getting married at 18 is not a great idea.

I understand and yeah, I am young. I know.

I know I want to. But thanks for the advice.

Plus, with how things are looking, we wont really be able to until I am done with High School anyway. Since I dont even know when he will be back all I've been told is anywhere from four months to a year.

youre damn right actualy BUT you just can't plan it... it just sort of happens

I plan to live my life as much as I can and get a kid around 30, NOT MARRIE MY SELF but just get a kid with someone who I supose is good person enought to share my genes with

but then again you just can't plan it.....

if I ever be in love again I won't marrie my self because I find it stupid and religous and what not... and it costs if you get divorce
I find marriage as primitive as jihad

that's why we have this great thing in sweden called sambo (samma boende - same residence)
if your chemistry ever stops working you can just move out,and it will stop working after 4-5 years, scientificaly proved

after all we are just animals, with that I will say we are poligamic by our nature... but that's already a complex matter deserving a new thread or something

well... good luck LoraLie and I certainly hope that it will work out for you and that you know what you realyy want...
my honest advice: find a balance between what you heart and your mind want's and take everything with a bit of credit...

one question... how old is he?

Yeah, being in love is great, and we are happy you have those feelings.
Love them, enjoy them, and be happy. It's a great thing.

But trust me, at your age, you haven't been alive long enough to know what happens to relationships in 10 years, or 20 years, etc... Once you add the stress of work, children, etc...

Even if you had a serious relationship at age 15, the longest you have been with someone is 3 years. And you have not been in a relationship long enough to discover that many guys get a wandering eye after 5 years or so. Will you still want to be married if he ends up one day fucking some other chick? Sure, neither of you will do something like that now, because you *are* in love. Which is great. But it's a lot harder to keep those feelings going for 10 years, 20 years, and so on... You *think* they will last forever, but they rarely do. It's much better to just stay together, move in together, be happy together, and see how it goes. If it's still going strong in 5 years, then yeah, maybe you can get married... But if you do it now, it has a strong chance of failure... If you are going to commit to someone *forever*, I think you ought to be sure you can pull it off... 5 years is not so long of a test, compared to the rest of your life...

i dont think you can ever know, ive known couples that met in highschool and stay together and Ive met couples that have been married for 40 years and gotten a divorce, thats why divorces are so easy to come by ... But you cant fear commitment, as long as you are happy then its all gravy baby

My two cents is that it is great if you can be there for him as much as possible while he is gone i.e. writing often and everything. But don't get married by proxy. Marriage is a big step and you should be a full participant in it. I mean, I guess there might be military spouse benefits or something which might be useful, but, from a personal satisfaction perspective, there is no point in having a wedding day you can't attend. Good luck to both of you and safe journey to nonamepunk.

Agreed. Also, never ever get married because of financial considerations (like spousal benefits). Trust me.

    aw. everyone is so pessimistic.
I have never had the urge to get married, but I expect when I do my instincts will be accurate. I hope that yours are too!
I think there is something romantic about young love, Although I am with everyone else that there are a lot of times it doesn't work out I think it CAN work out and when it does it is super sweet!!!

It *is* romantic, and it can work out...

But there is no need to get married, just to keep experiencing true love and commitment...

Just stay together, be totally happy together, and just enjoy it.

What's the big hurry to put your names on a piece of paper?
    Family pressure? Pressure from friends?
Why do people feel such a pressing desire to get married?
If you're so perfect together, and are going to be happy
for 60 years together, what is the hurry to do it now?
You can wait 10 years, and still have 50 years
    to be married together.

Waiting a few years is just the smart thing to do.

Too many people end up with kids, and a divorce,
alimony payments, child support, etc, because they rushed in too soon.
People do change. You may think it will never happen, but it does.
Someone could be perfect, and wonderful right now.
But that does not mean it always lasts forever.

75% of my friends who got married young are now divorced.
And 50% of my friends that are still married are having a lot
of problems. I only know one married couple that are actually
    happy.

My suggestion to anyone and everyone, is to at least have one
long-term serious relationship. Be totally into it, move in together,
try to make it last a long time. See how it goes... You have to
at least see what it takes to make it work. Even if you are set
on marrying this guy, at least make it a year or two engagement.
Make sure that everything works good when living together.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from.

But really I have no choice in the matter of waiting or not heh. (yeah after looking more into the whole proxy marriage thing I think we'll just wait heh)

Until he gets his big bum back over here, nothing is going to be happening. So we're looking for a 4month to year long wait.

I agree with this as well. Your beliefs reflect my personal beliefs on marriage. But seeing as she doesn't share my beliefs, I just wanted to wish her luck with the choices she has made :-)

I wanna marry you too. Amelia and Forrest posted the make-up pix (sans the paintbrushes in my pussy) yesterday. It just reminded me how sickly infatuated with you I am!

I think not getting married actually makes the relationship stronger and better. If you know the person can leave any time they want, then they will only stick around if the relationship stays good. People who are married feel obliged to stick around, even when the other person turns into an asshole. I don't need, or want, someone to stick around because of some lifelong commitment they made. I want them to stick around because they actually still want to...
