    Default Let them eat cake...

Ok,I normally don't care for Kirsten Dunst...but I recently rented Sophia Coppella's Marie Antoinette and wow.

I don't know about any of you,but I'm a sucker for period films to begin w/..I adored this movie! Kirsten Dunst was so believable and endearing as the ill-fated queen, she really brought a human face to this notorious historical figure.

The cinematography was wonderful, the whole film was highly stylized and the soundtrack is just to effing die for...we're talking Siouxie and the Banshees,The Cure, and Joy Division here folks, can you get any better than that?

Has anyone else had the pleasure of seeing this film?

D'oh... and here I thought it would be a
thread all about some tasty desserts

Still haven't seen it, figure it has to be
good... as is most everything from the
Coppola movie machine in the last 40
years, sure she has picked up some
tips from her pops and the fact she's
    been acting since 1972.

    We been on The Libertine
kick for quite awhile, artistic liberties aside..
it makes for an enjoyable watching(s) and what
more could you want besides Johnny Depp?

John Wilmot is an interesting character to
begin with and Depp just really makes it
even that much better. We've probably
seen it.. umm... a couple dozen times...
    or more.

Sometimes it's hard to pick a movie with
just the sheer number of choices we have
without having to leave the house and there
are times it's just easier to watch something
that we know we'll like... it hasn't gotten stale
    yet.

Yeh...my husband and I have a few movies like that..movies we never get tired of that are just easy choices when nothing else sounds good.
    The Big Lebowski
The Life Aquatic w/ Steve Zissou
Haggard (The movie the guys from Jackass/Viva La Bam/CKY videos made..it has a plot, and is hilarious, but sort of touching in an odd way)
Anything by Kevin Smith (I'm sure you can appriciate that Hempknight)
    O Brother Where art Thou?
    Me,You and Everyone we Know
    Natural Born Killers
    Pulp Fiction
...ok,the list is pretty long..I guess this could really be it's own thread..all time favorite movies you never tire of

I can't speak yet as I have not seen it yet, (but I'm going to anyways) I've heard that other then Siouxies 'Hong Kong Garden' opening the movie it's an absolute bore. Gorgeous but dull. I liked her other stuff, but was turned away by friends.

I didn't really like Marie Antoinette. The costumes were great, and the music was good, but I couldn't really get into the characters. I'm no movie expert, just an opinion
Oh yea, and I realize that the movie couldn't be completely in french, but I found it funny the little girl was the only one who spoke it, hehe.
Great movie picks btw Deviant, I especially liked Natural Born Killers and Pulp Fiction.

I wasn't bored..but I think I have more patience for movies of this type than the average person. It was a little drawn out in all fairness though.

Oh,and Hong Kong Gardens was actually played during the masquerade ball in the movie, which was more like 1/3 through the movie..

I think I just fell in love w/ the sheer decadence of her lifestyle...set me daydreaming..I wanna be the queen of france..and not be beheaded, that would be nice

I saw a while back with my wife, and I found it very enjoyable (Kirsten Dunst in see-through clothing is quite nice)
Some may not have noticed, but there is one character that about half-way through the movie is dressed like Adam Ant in the Prince Charming video. My wife wants me to dress a lot more like that.

I've never liked sophia coppalas movies. I just think that they are so-so and that she wouldn't have been succesful if it wasn't for her dad. I have more respect for Nick for making it on his own.
