An original printing of Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe for a quarter - worth several hundred dollars.

but somehow i always end up getting stuffed animals and books hehe... cant wait for this summer though, ill be goin around getting a truckload of baby stuff hahaa!!

Lots of insanely awesome clothes and cloth for generally less than $1 a piece.
I love thrift shops, yard sales and the like.
i've gotten tones of books (nothing really worth a lot of money or rare, but still a lot cheaper than buying it in a book store)
some old guitar stomp boxes (early 70s Big Muff!)
Almost all of my furniture comes from getting stuff on the street the night before junk pickup day.
funny, my nextdoor nieghbour goes garbage picking and then has garage sales most weekends in the summer

i have also found that police actions are a great place for cheap stuff, especially push bikes..
best thing i picked up was probably a concrete dragon statue for $20 (about 60 cm tall.. works out to 24 inches? i dunno..)
hey who shops on craigslist.org? im not sure if its just a canadian/american thing, but its way cool.. its like ebay, but local, so no shipping fees, you just go pick the shit up or drop it off heh... its great!!
