What are your thoughts on the Critical Mass bike protests?

See, it's a matter of mutual respect though. I'm not pushing my issues on them and they shouldn't push theirs on me.

but you are pushing yours on them by contributing to the slaughter of animals and more so you are pushing them onto the cows that are being sacrificed for that view. It doesn't matter who's eating it. Which is why I used the example that it was the same context as someone saying that them killing someone is not pushing thier view on someone that is opposed to killing. Of course it is. Anyway it doesn't really matter at all and has nothing to do with this thread, which was my point in the first place that it's not really a relevent example.

So I'm an asshole for typing all that arguing with you, because I agree with everything else that you said in that post. It's supposed to be about solidarity. You should do what you think is right and if it pisses people off because they don't agree, it's not your perogative to appeal to the lowest ethical denominator. On the other hand if you are just trying to piss people off and acting out of that intention, then you're just a jerk. (That is as always the rhetorical you)

No, I certainly don't think you're an asshole for discussing alternate views, even if I initially disagree with a few of them. I'm glad we can talk them through like rational people. I think your point about indirectly impacting people in a way that they still can not ignore in good conscience is a good one and worth consideration and I also think we fundamentally don't wholly disagree about the difference between protesting something important to you versus pushing/shoving people around about it.
