after seeing this years ozzfest:

dimu gorgon(orsomething to that effect they were norwegian black/death metal) and pretty kick ass...

super joint ritual (phil's band) not bad on the radio... live they sucked ass... damn it phil stop talking about how you can choke the audience with your dick b/c they aren't moshing to your shitty music and put more effort into the show maybe then they will get up and do something other then fall asleep or giggle at your lame attempts to get them riled up. (sorry he did more talking then playing and the songs were sloppy at best) i like damage plan better anyway.

god forbid put on a good show nothing to distinctive about there style but i like there radio stuff and did well live.

Rammstein is a good metal band that is still fairly mainstream, I don't know if you'd call them 'nu-metal' exactly.

I thought a lot of the black metal stuff sounded pretty similar.

I actually liked the one Super Joint Ritual song I downloaded.

are murderdolls nu-metal? cause i wouldn't put them under the same label as a band like linkin park really...but murderdolls are my favourite band so maybe i'm biased.
but i recently heard a song called "bloody monday" by bitch alert and i've never heard of them before but they were good and i guess they fit the category of nu-metal..

Well I don't know if they should be called numetal. That's why I said "could be called".
I wouldn't put them in same category that linkin park etc. I think their style and the fact that Joey is from sklipnot might be one reason they could be categoried as newmetal. Don't know where they should be categoried if they were have to, but anyways they rock.

NONESENCE! there will always be good music in all genres. you just havent gone any further from switching from MTV, to something else.

To set an example, Devin Townsend (not new in the industry) has formed one of the best extreme metal bands, Strapping Young Lad.

Not your style? Off to scandinavia then. Nagash and Blackheart have dismissed their former black metal band Covenant, to form the modern industrial metal The Kovenant.

Ihsahn, (ex-Emperor) has a new band with his wife and her brother, Peccatum.

What about Pain of Salvation? They're relatively new, and already making music history, while beeing the most progressive and avantgarde band to date -

i could go on like this for a long time, so i'll just stop right here. It's not that there arent any good new metal bands. It's just that you dont know where to look for music :-)

Not necesserily. A lot of them are crap, but lets not forget Mudvayne. They're excelent musicians, yet they play NU-metal, what do you have to say about that?

Meshuggah is too technical to be true, and they (although not from the beginning) as well have NU-metal influences.
