What was your most memorable vacation, and why? What did you do, where did you go, what made it memorable?

Going to England and France. It was the first time I was ever out of country. People acted different, the technology was different, architecture etc. England was not entirely different (being our parent country) but it was still a thrill. France was an entirely different experience (Sure made me appreciate England and America alot more lol.) Not being able to speak the native language was scary.

Just an amazing trip all and all. America's a relatively young country and seeing war banners from fleet ships in England, medieval castles, the Louve art museum in france etc made me appreciate history alot more.

Being in mainland China on a six-week tour in 1985.

Loved the people, and seeing sights such as the Forbidden City, the Yellow Emperor's terra-cotta army, and the various sites around the city of Yenan, where Mao Ze-Dong and his forces spent much of the late '30's through late '40's was just amazing.

I lived in Hong Kong on extended vacation - I worked for a shadowy inter embassy group investigating the magic rites of black society (triad) members. I have seen things that would make those playing at darkness scream with panic and fear.

It wasn't a vacation in the normal sense: We went to SF right after the 'Quake. I've tried to write about in the years since, but the surreality (and seemingly impossible events) changed us forever.
