Well, like or not kid's,we all imitate,to a certain degree of course, our clothes, hair, ideals, sex, the trick is to add to what we're imitating, make something unique that time and trend has made bland.Ya know, make it your own.

It is so hard to be adored! all my friends copy my style too, but It's OK, we are a team.
Dear lord protect the world from others that imitate me.. for I imitate them.. then the cycle starts to unwind, and a black hole begins to form.
It is the end of the world as we know it.

I just hate it when things that I like are also liked by people that are stupid and have no understanding of history or significance beyond something that is "cool" for about fifteen minutes, before they dump it for something else.
It's like just because you have a dumb tattoo, don't think that you can relate to me.
maybe I come off as a total asshole snob, but so it goes. I do what I do because it matters to me, not because I am seeking other people to validate it.

I'm a really good friend, but I'm generally a mean date.
Also, he was painfully clingy in an impersonal way.

It goes back to what I said in the DMV thread about how there are things that we do, and then there is the people that we are. One of them is You, the other is just stuff that might be great, but ultimately it is just interchangable.
like ok, stick with the tattoos example. what that means to me is the personal connections or experience in the symbol, and that is what matters, not really what the actual design is. and even if that meaning is just that I thought it would be really cool to get something because I liked the way it looks, it still doesn't matter, because you can't tell that just by looking at it. it's a personal thing.
I think I need to head over to the "issues you care about" thread. that sounds like the right place for me.
I'm a mimic. I copy everything. o___o
That's why whenever I do something original, I go all-out, since people are too lame to copy me successfully if I do that.
Well, and I hate people and want to offend them. <.<
I dunno how accurately and completely you shared that remark with us, but I wouldn't say that "oh, you are wearing your shirt like so-and-so." implies that they've made up their mind about who invented it and are accusing you of immitation.Originally Posted by Amelia G

Not really, as I've changed my appearance over the years (I couldn't possibly look like I did back in 1982 - could I? Well perhaps I can do a modern update - lol - see picture enclosed below, please) ....
I DO miss when the scenes were more D.I.Y. vs. lets all wear the same stuff from hot topic
~(^)~
Would that me that I cared what people thought of me if I noticed them imitating me? Then again, I laugh at myself a lot! LOL!!!!
Yes! Yes! I'm terrified of it.....
Haha! Not really. Who would want to imitate this?
Can you tell I'm bored?
If they were, I probably wouldn't DIY all my clothes. <.<;Originally Posted by darkamor
Why not? Your works would still only be limited by your imagination, not those of others. Besides, standing out by being comparitively plain just doesn't work, despite the increasingly more popular rationalizations of Joe "Nonconforming to Nonconformity!" Average.
It's a great thing to be a inspiration to others.
