Default One step closer to my drivers license and overcoming my fear

YAY!!!! I finally got my Learners Permit!!! It took almost ten years after my accident to finally get to this step...I'm so excited...Now to get on the road and practice and get over this damn fear of driving for good... I'm ready now to kick this phobia in the ass...

its not so bad. you'll be making excuses to drive everywhere once you get your license..i did! "um..i need..um..milk!."
and then id get home and go..hrm...i need a cup to put the milk in!
ya i was excited..but now I hate it sometimes because i actually *do* forget shit to bring home and HAVE to go back out

but congrats on overcomming that fear!

Let's see *looks around for extra courage pills* Here they are...now just take two of these and call me in the morning...*hands K two courage pills* Now remember in order for these to work you need to make sure that you have really good friends to support you and remember the goal...the freedom to drive wherever you want and leave whenever you want...Now if you need any more let me know and I'll give you some more...oh and you also need some of your favorite treat too...It always works better whenever you have something to treat yourself with after each mile stone...I got some English toffee after I passed the written test from my best friend...she said that when I pass the Road test she's going to buy me the boots I want....

Thanks for all the support....I'm off now to take my first lesson to get over my fear...*runs to put her shoes on*

Hey lots of people are scared to drive. My mother never drove, it took me years, and now I live in Manhattan and don't drive, license expired!!!

But hey! If someone is going to buy you some boots, then go for it!! Get them boots!!!!

I think the longer you wait, the harder it will be to get over the fear...

    Try driving go carts.

Think of driving as something fun.

make sure you take the test with an automatic transmission

my parents gave me a volvo 240 when i got my licence and i still drive it today although my ac has been dead about 5 years

also it doesnt pay to have a nice flashy car somthing will happen and you only get bluebook values if you sue

no bumperstickers no clutter(except the trunk)

one thing i learned from the simpsons "disco stu doesn't advertise"

me in my grey volvo is the best urban camo ever

Thanks for all the advice everyone....

MistressJennifer- Hell Yeah!!! For the boots I want I'd do just about anything...

DeathKnight- I have driven go carts and had a blast... it's the stupid people in the cars that scare the shit out of me...

Mr.Karl-Me in a big vehicle not a good idea...then you would really have to clear the roads lol

Pull my hair-I was a good driver before I got hit by a drunk 9 yrs ago not one ticket for anything, followed all the rules of the road, drove the speed limit and I even took a Defensive Driving course at a racing school...The fear came after I had the accident...It was one of those wrong place at the wrong time freak things that happen

bohoki- I am definately taking the exam in an automatic...standards and I just don't get along..

try blowing up an SUV. it won't help you get over your fear of driving, but it will make me feel better.

I'm trying to avoid blowing up anything

I'm proud to anounce that I actually went on a semi busy road today and stopped at stop lights, changed lanes and even avoided some pot holes...My instructor says I'm doing very well in my lessons...and I haven't had one panic attack or flash back...things are looking up....I am anticipating getting my license soon...Nervous as hell about it, but I know I can get through this.
