If you have a cell phone, do you still use a landline for anything?

whats a landline?
A home phone that's run with wires that run either under or above the ground.
Yes, I can't afford to actually talk on my cell phone.
I forgot to answer... No I dont use a landline

Thats really kewl, I love to travel.. I bet its fascinating to see the world. (not meaning to hijack)
for the first time this year I don't have one.
But I do have a cell phone and DSL. so depending on your POV, that was either an improvement or not.
What's a cellphone???
i wish i didn't know... sometimes "instant" availability sucks... mine stays on vibrate now... for many reasonsOriginally Posted by motormenace
Yeah, need it for work.
We have a landline, my wife actually bought her landline a long time ago, about $500. It used to be that to get a phone here you had to buy your own phone line, when you move you just show proof that you own a line and you get your phone. When you didn't want it you would sell it back or to someone else.
but we don't really use it, very rarely will someone call us on it, usually her mom or a couple of friends who don't really have a cell phone. We also haven't sent a fax in a long time. I usually forget my home number since I never call it.
I have no phone at all. I'll be using VOIP soon.
i use all 3.
i much prefer my landline. and hate cordless landline handsets. spend half my life rushing from room to room trying to find out where my nephew has picked it up and placed it down somewhere random.
i really fancy actually gutting a modern set and building it to look like an old wall attached phone, the ones with a seperate microphone horn and earpiece
Landline.
That's an extra wire for kids to get electrocuted by sucking on.
That's what that jack in the wall is for, right?
I use my landline, for dial-up, yes, thats right, I said dial-up.

i got one because it saves me $10 a month on my internet bill (promotional shit), i dont know the # and I havent ever plugged a phone into it..but it serves its purpose.
I had a landline when I first moved to NYC. Awful experiance. Numbers get recycled so quickly that I was getting on average five voice mails a day for the previous person who had the line. Drove me nuts.
No fucking kidding!! I get at least 6 or 7 calls a day for the wrong damn people. I put up with it though b/c I have a great long distance plan. I can call anywhere in North America for $20/mo. UNLIMITED minutes. I could literally call California and not hang up for 3 days and it's still only $20!
THATS AMAZING, we used to have a plan like that in Florida, but now we have a plan where we can only call AT&T users unlimited.
BOOOOOOOO
I have a work cell and a personal cell. That's enough phone numbers for me.
Mine were always voices mails about not picking the kids up from school!!!! I had no idea what to do, I called back once and tried to explain it was the wrong number and I couldn't pick the kids up from school and they hung up on me...and kept leaving messages!!!!Originally Posted by mystoo
