    Default Dont you..forget about me..

"John Hughes, the producer, writer and director whose 1980s films such as "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" offered a sharp-eyed look at teenagers and their social habits, has died, according to a statement from his representative. He was 59."

I enjoyed his movies a lot growing up and the wifey grew up near the school they used to shoot Breakfast Club.

What was/is your favorite movie by Mr. Hughes?

It's a toss up between Planes Trains and Automobiles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

i can not in any way imagine having grown up without his movies. most of them are still good, and worth watching today. :'(

Never heard of the guy, and his stuff sounds dreadfully mundane and dramatic.

I'll have forgotten by tomorrow, I'm afraid.

his movies were good mind numbing salve, nothing more. they may have said something to the 16 yr old me, but as we all know now, life isn't that crucial when you're a teenager, it just feels like it is.

it's sad, but it does happen to everybody eventually. he'll be missed, i'm sure.

I can't quite get a handle on whether Breakfast Club was as good as its cult status now paints it or not, but I certainly feel the best bit was the last 5 minutes, which is probably the bit as a teenager nobody saw the pathos behind.
