Because it's not, so, should it?
short answer: yes
Probably. I'd prefer it if they just put anti-androgen drugs in the tap water though.
It's already legal; we just call it by its many other names. In regards to exchanging sex for money, per the classic definition of "prostitution," I see no reason why the world's oldest profession should remain legally taboo.
It is legal.... in Nevada...
To me, all dating is prostitution. If a guy pays for a movie, dinner, drinks whatever, it just replaces money in the transaction.
it should be legal and regulated. You should have to register to be one, and get checked out by a doctor all the time. I like hollands sex worker program. Its really on the ball.
If filming a pornos legal then so should prostitution.
There is a dark side to it..I foresee a lot of girls going into it for easy money and using it as an excuse to not get a good education. But thats their mistake to make I guess.
Eh in honesty the government backing up something like that makes me a little depressed but thats me on my moral high horse.
I'd rather it be legal and regulated, than illegal and spreading disease.
Long ago I decided that if I had a daughter, I would rather her be a prostitute than a coal miner.
It should be legal, but making it legal will only solve some of the problems associated with the trade, not all of them.
Yup, legalize it and as Voltaire said, regulate it! Organize it so each house has its own doctor, and can give the prostitutes regular check ups to ensure cleanliness. People coming in should have clean bills of health too. Also, if prostitutes had a safe house to do it instead of going to unknown places to do the deed it would take some risk out of them getting hurt.
I don't know how to edit here. Another good point Synthetic Shock stated in quote, "the prostitutes would have a safe house to do their deed, and take the risk out of them getting hurt". Prostitutes are people too and should be protected. It takes alot to do their job.
In a perfect world, prostitution would not be needed. But we don't live in a perfect world.
Exactly.
Sure, there might still be issues with trafficking, pimping, being forced to work, etc. But I'd rather the cops worry about busting people for things like that, rather than having them worry about the "crime" of sex for money. Have all the vice squads bust pimps, and only have girls who are working independently and by their own choice.
Think we had this discussion here once (not that it matters or one should keep track). I'd reiterate: Legalize, regulate (medical being the obvious), and for pete's sake let's hope the politicians stop talking about it.
