    Default Insomnia

Do you have trouble sleeping? How do you get back to sleep? Do you just stay up and be tired?

I usually have a glass of milk (corny I know, but most of the time it works), and go back to sleep. Otherwise, I try to do something little, like watch TV until I feel tired. Last night I couldn't get back to sleep though, so I am tired today.

As a youngster I had many problems sleeping and would often lie awake much of the night worrying that I wasn't falling asleep. Then I started going for sneak out walks in the middle of the night from my boarding school across the Yorkshire Moors. Later I transferred my walking tours to London and then Europe and so on. Nowadays I have little trouble going to sleep at night, or waking up in the monring, but I do miss the chance to walk in the dark!

Yea, thinking usually keeps me up. Right now I'm in the midist of trying to get me sleeping schedual on track by staying up later and later (good thing I don't have much of a social life). I'm needing to get a job, thats why I'm fixing it. Actually, I used to sleep for 4 hours and then stay up for 8 hours and then do the whole thing all over again. Well, Dimmu Borgir puts me to sleep.

i have more of a problem getting into bed then i do getting to sleep. once in bed i am usually out pretty quickly but if not some low volume music of choice * relaxes me a bit then allowing me to go to sleep.
if i have alot on my mind i will make a to do list or just grab a piece of paper or livejournal and dump everything out of my head.

masturbation often works...unless my insomnia is caused by something sex related in which case it just makes me think about it more furthering the insomnia.

*(for some reason i like going to sleep to hardcore, heavy metal, some good industrial music stuff that would keep most people awake)

when i have a hard time falling asleep at night (which is everynight) i get up and do something. last night it was the casino, last week the bar, i go for walks on a golf course, some times i go downtown and take pictures of the buildings. a lot of times i'll just veg in front of the tv, my body may not be sleeping but at least it's resting that way. this is a new development for me since i moved to oklahoma so i think it maybe adjusting problems. i'd hate to take meds to sleep at night but if the problem persists much longer i'm going to have to start. i don't understand the whole perscription for sleeping thing. what do you do? walk up to a doctor and say "yo, i'm having a hard time falling asleep at night, can you help me?" and they just hand you drugs? that doesn't make since to me, it can't be that easy is it?

When I can't sleep, I don't. I usually stay up and write. It doesn't help me get to sleep anymore, but it gives me something to do.
