i for one am very excited with tim burton and jhonny depp you cant go wrong
jhonny depp's the man ,fear in loathing anyone? haha
i grew up with the original i could resite the whole thing...right..now
i dunno i think jhonny depp will have a hard time topping gene wilder as willy wonka but i think this movie is going to kick ass and i cant wait to see it
It better be good...not making it a direct remake to the much loved original was a smart move...cause even with this tag team they can't top the masterwork of the original.
It'll be interesting, a new angle on the Roald Dahl story, I hope, and not just a remake of the Wilder success.
I heard Marilyn Manson was competing to play in the movie.... which would have probably made it suck total ass. I'm glad Johnny got the part. I bet he will be able to pull it off even though, I wasn't too fond of Secret Window. The movie poster kicks ass btw.
Manson had the look but lacked the acting talent...and you need more than just the creepy look and style to do the role justice.
I'm just hoping they didn't butcher it. I'm not a big Johnny fan, but we can't all be perfect.. I would have liked to see Kevin Spacey play Willie Wonka.. I think he would have been great for the part..
Yeah that would be awesome to kevin spacey do it i love kevin spaceyOriginally Posted by DyingSunshine
With the focus on the book not the previous film I think they have a good chance of making something quite original.Originally Posted by DyingSunshine
Gene Wilder made the last movie as great as it is, sure it's a good story, and sure the other actors did a good job...but Wilder made it so memorable.
I think Depp will add a bizzare sex appeal to the character...sounds weird when talking about Willy Wonka, but seriously, a hot and creepy guy, lives alone (with oompa loompas) in a CHOCOLATE factory. Hell, I'd love to go swimming in that chocolate river with Johnny! Finger licking good!
Seriously though, yeah, it should be a good flick, it's hard for Tim Burton to ruin such a whismical and slightly creepy concept!
............ read the book many times as a kid, might be a good movie
have any of you ever read roald dahls other stories.. he also wrote some story about having sex with a girl on top of a pyramid while her brother ran up there to fight him
JOHNNY DEPP
good movie or not i'll watch it
Maybe I'm insane, but I always found Gene Wilder oddly attractive.. bizarre sex appeal.. lol..Originally Posted by Forestghost
Ok, yes, Gene Wilder had that "strange" sex-appeal thing going on...he's one of those men who wouldn't be in playgirl or anything, but is someone with whom sex might be fun/interesting.....Originally Posted by DyingSunshine
It could simply be that he played Willy Wonka...because like I said, the mysterious guy who lives in a CHOCOLATE factory is pretty kinky!
Whats supposed to be speciall about the new movie, or different, other than the cas and focusing on the book?
ohhhhhhhhh i heard about this because they were filming it near where i lived in the Nestle chocolate factory and Mr Depp himself was staying a stones throw away from where i used to live ....should be good
...Johnny Depp... He makes me drool...excessively.
I haven't seen a Johnny Depp movie that I don't like. Even if the movie itself sucks, he's kinda saving it with his presence. So, why not, I'll watch it for sure.
Ill be happy is they don;t sing as much and there is an explosion and the ompa loompa better look dif to.
i am so fucking jealous and mad... when i was little i wanted them to make a remake of willy wonka sooo bad because i could play veruka so well, but whatever, im too old now... and i doubt if i was younger my mom would ever take me on auditions... it better be a friggin good movie or i am going to throw a shoe at the tv and whoever plays veruka better amaze me or i will hate that movie
wow im bitter
I've not read any of his other stories, but some of the tv series I was expected to watch (family quality time) as a child were first rate.Originally Posted by mamathirteen

Can't wait, it'll be KOOl to see how Tim Burton interperates it... Genius as usual, of course...

I like Johnny Depp, but I'm afraid I'm just getting sick of all the big budget remakes lately...seems like everything coming out of hollywood thesedays is a remake, sequel or comic/book/TV series/computer game adaption...
Tinseltown needs some fresh script writers, badly...
I think Johnny will do a great job and i would of cast him in the part myself.. He played a few quirky ones already in Edward Scissorhands and Benny and Joon. He was magnificent in the pirate roll and he seems to bring a new vision to every roll he plays.(yes, even *Chocolate*). I loved him in Sleepy Hollow and cant wait til this comes out...Johnny is sexy and unique enough to pull this one off hands down..in my book. Mr Depp is uber sexy stuff and I'll watch anything and everything he makes...if the story sucks...at least I will get to see his beautiful face and indulge on his intense essense...
I love Tim Burton so, we will see. I haven't watched his last couple of works. I don't think you should mess or even try to redo a classic like Planet of the Apes or Willy Wonka, I don't support such films.
The trailer looked great. Though Manson is not in it, the imagery looks pretty Manson-esque. I cant wait.
I can't wait to see it. As of today it has 213 days left until the release. http://www.timburtoncollective.com/charlie.html
I am definately excited for it.
I remember hearing about this remake like 3 years ago.
I'm REALLY happy they're using the true name of the book. I disliked the change made in the Gene Wilder film.Originally Posted by KilLAtomiK
well, when Johnny Depp is involved (and the look of the trailer);
It will either be an amazing movie that makes others pale in comparison,
Or it will be so terrible that the producers will earn entry to a circle of hell deeper than what they may have previously been bound for.
(It's going to be hard to make new Oompa Loompas without being lame.)
