    Default Goodbye Paul Newman

Died Friday in his home at the age of 83, following a battle with cancer.

For the youngsters who know him mostly as a purveyor of salad dressing, the Newman's Own brands have announced they will carry on their fundraising - over $250 million in the past 25 years. For the rest of us, he was a damn good actor, a scarily-enthusiastic race driver, and will be sorely missed.

RIP. I didn't know he'd been ill even.

Calling it your job don't make it right, Boss.
He was in a few of my favorite movies. He will be missed but I don't think anyone can say the man did not make a good run of it. Had some good times and gave a little back. (Ok gave a lot back.) I am sure there are bad things you could say about the man, but you have to put some work into finding them and that is more than you can expect from most men.

I'm a supporter of gay rights. And not a closet supporter either. From the time I was a kid, I have never been able to understand attacks upon the gay community. There are so many qualities that make up a human being... by the time I get through with all the things that I really admire about people, what they do with their private parts is probably so low on the list that it is irrelevant.
A man can only be judged by his actions, and not by his good intentions or his beliefs.
A man with no enemies is a man with no character.
    And, most importantly of all...

Once you've seen your face on a bottle of salad dressing. it's hard to take yourself seriously.

"...My boy says he can eat fifty eggs, he can eat fifty eggs"

"Why you got to go and say fifty eggs for? ..."

exactly... i had a boss that could do the "night in the box speech" perfect... except he could modify it to whatever we were doing at the time... imagine being in downtown baghdad/sadr city at 4am in a gunfight listening to:

"bullets go in the magazine, magazine goes in the rifle, mess it up it's a night in the box..."

almost funny sometimes considering where we were...
