Worst Invention

Subwoofers have to be one of the worst inventions made. Why why why do people think that making music sound bad is groovy? I hooked up my new speakers, and thought I could do so without hooking up the sub-woofer, but it was the only way it would work. So I figured, what the hell. My god. It sucks so bad. And, unlike to other fucks in my building, I didn't leave it on so that I would not give headaches to the other tenants. God damn. And caps lock key. LOL URNOT REALLY THT COOL 4 DOING THATTT.1

In defense of subwoofers.. they are generally good in the right situations.
Without them you wouldn't really have that deep bass in theatric movies in your home on a surround sound. it's like having peanut butter and jelly minus the bread in my opinion. Bad examples are the ones who crank it up in their car and make their trunks rattle.
But maybe it's just me as a music kinda guy..

/sigh Yeah, I know that they do have their uses in the likes of movies and concerts and such, but I'm just so tired of everyone here abusing it. I literally have to leave my apartment when they crank it because I can't take it.

Can't listen to metal/rock/genuine guitar driven music with a sub. Ruins the gritiness. My speaker system is an old 1970's kenwood amp and two 40 year old speakers. Sound awesome, I always eq some bass in but generally I like the high end to be that little bit piercing and dirty.

Loud music freaks me out unless I am drunk. I hate live bands unless they are down tempo or something like Radio Head ot Sigur Ros. I dont even have a CD player in my car.

Yeah i sometimes get annoyed when my friends have their music really loud, so loud you cant hear each other talk to so loud that the music starts to sound like crap.

but subs are awesome, especially when gaming

man im so guilty of turning the volume all the way up in my car lol, however the bass is not somethin your have to turn up you have to adjust it to the level it sounds best at without bass songs dont have the same kick, but with too much bass makes that anoying thumping sound. just cause you have it dosent mean you gota turn it all teh way up

Livebands that play their music earpeircingly loud suck. I can understand big concerts, but when they cram 10 speakers into a small resturant/club then blair it so loud it becomes uncomfortable. Then its just kinda lame. Kinda like eating really hot food, I don't wanna run a physical challenge to eat my sandwich.

Subwoofers are fucking amazing. I love the low end, I really don't care for my laptop speakers because they're sharp and piercing, I'd MUCH rather have the bass thumping away....

i love woofies... when theyre used right.
when set right, it gives the ripping bass lines a growl you can feel tearing through you, and aggressive double kicking thrums around you like the pulse of the world. all of this can be done without drowning out the rest of the music.
unfortunately, they are primarily used in an attempt to vibrate the owners car to oblivion as he shares his bad taste in hip hop with the rest of the world.

subwoofers are badass if you EQ them right, the problem is most of the time im in someones car and they have the bass dimed, and no treble. And im like "this sounds like total shit man" and then they say "thats how people listen to music nowadays man" god that pisses me off, but i love subs when used properly, especially for watching movies and listening to heavy metal.
