Here's one set of cabins that were historically preserved. Where the Founders Day festivities are held.

If you visit my home town, you're likely to see a lot of these ... randomly left lying ...anywhere.

I love the entry about author JB Priestley...
Dr Johnson passing through with James Boswell described it as "a dirty little back lane out of Newcastle" while JB Priestley, writing in his "An English Journey" (1934) said that "no true civilisation could have produced such a town", adding that it appeared to have been designed "by an enemy of the human race".

    Kingsport Tennessee

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingsport,_Tennessee
Read the Odd history part.. We hung an Elephant in 1900s...

Maybe I need to fix this on wiki, in our history of the town/ county. 1780s, battle of King's Mountain, Overmountain Men as we where called, 1,000 plus militiamen nearly half the men came from Sullivan County and Kingsport area.. Without orders, formal military training, uniforms or provisions, and with no promise of pay—against the superior forces. Matches out and met, half of Cornwallis army under the command of col. Ferguson.

Only one hour, the American Patriots totally decimated Ferguson's American Loyalists, with every last man of them either dead or taken prisoner, and the Colonel himself left dead on the battlefield. Having signed his own death warrant less than a month earlier when he sent a message from his camp in Gilbert Town, Rutherford County, North Carolina, to the officers on the west of the Blue Ridge that if they did not desist from their opposition to the British army, and take protection under his standard, he would march his army over the mountains, hang their leaders, and lay their country waste with fire and sword.

It did not have the expected results: The message was delivered to Sullivan County, North Carolina (now Tennessee) Militia Colonel Isaac Shelby of Sapling Grove (present-day Bristol, Sullivan County, Tennessee), who immediately rode out to confer with neighboring Washington County, North Carolina (now Tennessee) Militia Colonel John Sevier. The two men agreed that the best solution was to "march with all the men we could raise, and attempt to surprise Ferguson, by attacking him in his camp, or at any rate before he was prepared.

I had family that fought at Kings Mountain, its a little more of family pride. Still Wiki needs a little help now and again

One of the top 25 most populated cities, yet it's still like a small town. No real forms of public transportation, sidewalks on maybe 1/4 of all the streets, a handful of bike paths, and shitty air. Oh yea, but we have the new stadium! : Whopdifreakingdoo :

Well I live in the City of Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Second most biggest city (out of the Metropolitan area) in the Island.
I was impressed to see so much about it in Wikipedia, but yeah a lot of stuff went down in this city during the Colony period.

Charles Manson Family Members Living in Stockton
Lynette Fromme, Also knowen as "Squeaky Fromme", moved to Stockton, California, with friends Nancy Pitman and Priscilla Copper, a pair of ex-convicts named Michael Monfort and James Craig, and a couple, James and Lauren Willett. When the Willetts died within days of each other in 1972, the housemates were taken into custody on suspicion of murder. However, she was released due to a lack of evidence.

The 1989 Cleveland Elementary School shooting
On January 17, 1989, the Stockton Police Department received a threat against Cleveland Elementary School from an unknown person. Later that day Patrick Purdy, a mentally ill resident, opened fire on the school's playground with a semi-automatic rifle, killing five children, all Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees, and wounding twenty-nine others and a teacher, before taking his own life. This event received national news coverage and is sometimes referred to as the Stockton Massacre.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Kilda,_Victoria
Kulin people lived in Euroe Yroke (the area now known as St Kilda) for up to 30,000 years. Evidence has been found of shellfish middens and huts along Albert Park and Lake and axes which were most likely sharpened on the sandstone cliffs behind the main beach. Corroborees where held at the historic tree which still stands at St Kilda Junction.
St Kilda was first settled around 1839 by Ben Baxter, a settler from Melbourne, on a grazing lease. The high ground above the beach offered a cool fresh breeze during Melbourne's hot summer months. In 1840 St Kilda was the home to Melbourne's first quarantine station for Scottish immigrants. The area was named St Kilda by then governor Charles La Trobe in 1841.
Within a few years of its founding St Kilda became a fashionable area for wealthy settlers and the indigenous peoples were driven out to surrounding areas.

"Annandale's main street... is notable for being the first 30m wide street in Sydney"
I totally lost my load when I read that. Can it get more exciting?

Actually no but there are a few USA style "Gothic Revival" mansions about here that are locally known as the "Witches Houses" that are cool

The Abbey - built by John Young "the house incorporates gables, arches, gargoyles, lions, quatrefoils, chimneys, turrets, a cloister and a tower with copper cladding (it was rumoured that Young may have stolen gargoyles from St Mary's Cathedral, which he [also] built, but there was no proof)"
... except that he now burns in hell

    Kenilworth

    Somewheres hereabouts

ok this is really Glebe but you could nearly call it Annandale - never bothered eating at this (now) restaurant. The house just out of frame next to it in the same grounds is definitely one of the spookiest around here:

Reussdale - there is not anyone who isn't spooked by this place when it's dark. It still looks like this. The Abbey restaurant in the picture before this (that Reussdale is next to) used to be similarly spooky and derilect - a few fun & games stories in there from when we were younger hehe. Now the only thing that's scary is the bill at the end of the meal.
