Any watchers?
This has become one of those "must see" shows for me...
What about everyone else?

Never heard of it. I don't have cable.
Oh...it comes on HBO on Sundays at 9 pm...EST
It is a really good show! You should look it up online...
Yeah, that is one I catch on the Tivo. So far it's been a pretty decent enjoyable watch. That characters are well done too.
I don't have cable, so me and my inner geek are looking foreward to legend of the seeker on free t.v.

Haven't seen it in 2 weeks so I'm really behind.
I got behind on it as well, but last Thursday HBO played the last three episodes so I got caught up...you can also watch full episodes online!
Yeah, I am a huge fan of True Blood; been watching it without fail each week. I've never read the books, so I can't say how it maps, but I like the fact that I don't always see where it's going from week to week.
Whats it about? Never heard of it (no HBO;p).
Basically, it's set in an alternate reality. The Japanese developed a synthetic blood called "Tru Blood", which then prompted vampires to reveal themselves to the general populace (their need to feed now supposedly satisfied by this product). Society is, predictably, having some trouble adjusting.
The show takes place in the small town of Bon Temps, LA, where at the start of the series, the first vampire walks into the local bar...
Periodically, a TV in the background will be playing a segment about the pending Vampire Rights Amendment, or there'll be some holy rollers program preaching against vampires. The whole dynamic is a pretty obvious metaphor for other social issues, but it's handled in a clever way (like the 'God Hates Fangs' sign in the opening montage).
Overall, the writing is very, very good; characters talk much like people in real life, and it's not just talk to advance the next plot segment. In fact, it's one of those shows where you usually don't see things coming.
Plus, there's enough blood and violence to make "Rome" look like a History Channel special.
In short: It's filled with win.
Thanks inox. Sounds awesome, and I cant wait to watch the links you sent me;]
doesn't Alan Ball have something to do with it?
Well about time that they put the episodes online. I'll watch em tonight!!
Read the full articleGiven the huge ad campaign HBO's True Blood ran just about everywhere, including this site, you have probably heard that there is a new vampire show of some sort on cable television. I actually had...

Also...whats with the dog? Am I missing something or has it not yet been explained?

That was exactly what I was thinking...but then he is standing there with dog next to him...so now I really don't know whats going onOriginally Posted by Amelia G

Just because there's also a dog doesn't mean he couldn't shift into an virtually identical dog. Perfect cover for a shapeshifter.
Also, I think that the killer of the 3 women is Dawn's older neighbor lady who wouldn't say "bitch". She was right there after Sookie discovered the body, for one. Plus, someone was calling Sookie's grandmother and threatening her about bringing the vampire to church...and her character wasn't in that scene where Bill spoke, near as I could tell (and they made a big deal about the whole town being there). Who better to be killing women associated with vampires than a religious nutter who's so uptight she can't say "bitch"? She fits the bill.

Personally I think it has the acting quality of really bad porno without enough nudity to back it up. I couldn't sit through the entire first episode without wondering if there was something much better on tv.
I've been watching it. I think it's okay, not great. The sex scenes with Bill & Sookie are good. I don't love the show, but it's interesting... I want to find out what happens next
I saw one of the books at a friend's house, the first book. I picked it up and tried to read it, but it was like reading a 12-year-old's blog, no joke. It was so bad that I only made it a few pages in.
erm... if you don't mind possibly breaking the law (and I don't mind at all) you can always download them using a bit torrent client (erm... I heard... some 'friend' I know, who looks and acts exactly like me the poor bugga, told me). The episodes are going to be between 500MB and 600MB in size each which is about 100 times the size of the hard drives on Apollo XIII or a Casio FX-82 scientific calculator (I just made that Apollo / casio thing up but you never know I might be right - don't rely on this statistic at pub trivia). I can PM you if you need more information.Originally Posted by Morning Glory
My mystery friend has watched the first episode only so far and thought it wasn't too bad and is thinking about watching some more, some time somewhere because... how would I know I haven't asked him/her and he/she is a scary grumpy arrogant cad... I heard.
[Disclaimer: in no way do I give a fuck about the feelings of large production companies or record companies or their intellectual property rights and i do not endorse the content of their often peurile output]
well I was thinking more like streaming video like HULU or something. I know that F & A aren't down with piracy, and I wasn't really asking for that.
PS. the link that jax posted looks pretty on the level.
I do enjoy watching it, again HBO does it....
I've been able to watch a few episodes. I especially like the integration of hoodoo into the rest of the cultural affect.
I don't have HBO, so my exposure is limited, but my roommates do watch it. Insofar they've done a good job of creating interesting characters, and an extremely compelling storyline after storyline.
I like that there are just enough characters for me to follow, with ones I love, and ones I hate -- and some I love to hate.
I really like the show. I read the books a few years back and enjoyed them. I remember a lot from the books so the "big surprises" are more things I have to keep my mouth shut about while friends guess and argue. oh well. I dont remember everything from the books but from what I do remember they are doing a pretty good job with the show.
I have this weird fetish( Well, at least my wife thinks it is) where I just LOVE to see female celebrities nude. I swear I subscribed to a year of Playboy once JUST to see celebrity nudes, since they seem to pay big bucks for that. As far as the other models in the mag...I really could care less. In fact I cancelled my subscription because they just didn't have enough celebrities nude. Ever since I saw Anna in "Almost Famous" I thought, "God, I'd like to see her naked." Finally, due to "True Blood", I can scratch another conquest off my list. To tell you the truth though, not that she looked bad or anything; It's just that I always thought her boobs would be bigger. Haha.
At the same time, I can honestly say that I haven't watched a full episode yet. Though I do plan to.
I'm catching up on this show after having downloaded the first season. It's okay I guess, not great. And I resent the implication that Anna Paquin is supposed to be attractive with her goony eyes and big buck-teeth.
Aw it's pretty good relative to a lot of other stuff that comes out I think. Is there another season out or going to be another season? I've only seen the first. I don't know much about timing for the seasons but I would've thought it might be out by now if it was going to be. Was there some kind of strike that delayed things? Same goes for Dexter.Originally Posted by Rockwulf
