I have that one as well I recently obtained The Devil Speaks too. He gives a tour of his home, showing his Den of Iniquity. Unbelievable place. I sooo wish I could have seen it. Hidden doors, all kinds of memorabilia. It was just great. I wish there was more out there.

May sound kinda odd but here's why. See by the time those guys made detective they'd seen L.A. change quite dramaticly. So the wealth of stories they had to tell was unrivaled...even by their counterparts across the world.

True Crime, Pulp, and Tabloid writers of the time always kept a few in their pocket...and they lead to masterworks in each respective field.

That's not what I would be after...I just want that 1 on 1...no middleman to pretty up or retell their tales. Now granted it's pretty dark stuff...more than many want to admit...but it's also filled with the kind of stuff reminds one of how complicated justice is...and that it is alive and well.

Unlike other cities L.A. had...and still does...one of the more sordid histories in terms of crime. For ever front page splash there are hundreds that collect dust in forgotten filing cabinets...much more interesting but kept quiet for dozens of reasons by all sorts of colorful...and infamous people.

And most of em...look like just another boring face.

Amazing stuff.

If I were to meet them, I think Id like to talk to the detectives who were on the Black Dahlia murder. Pretty gruesome, and never solved. I think it was back in 1947. By todays crime statistics, it probably isnt as bad as some, but it still intriques people even after more than 50 years.

Caligula -- Someone who was that crazy sure would make an interesting subject for an interview.

Jack the Ripper -- I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley or anything, but it would be nice to have a definitive answer to the mystery.

Cora Pearl -- She was a successful courtesan at the turn of the century. She was able to carve a rather wealthy existence for herself at the expense of some rather rich and powerful English Lords and Royalty. I'd just like to know how she did it.
