See I actually like that quote...not because it makes me think of what Jesus would do mind you but because it's one of those questions that makes you think twice.

You can change Jesus for whatever other name you want...and people do. All of us at SOME point ask ourselves what another person would do in our place in a given situation.

I find comfort in that..it also lets you tackle an issue with a diffrent set of eyes and find a solution where you previously saw none.

Lets face it...their are times when what WE would like to do just won't cut it. Anyone in a relationship knows that lesson.

You're right that people should think twice about things, and that quote helps some people do that. My way of thinking twice is to ask people closest to me for advice.

But the reason that I picked that particular quote-- with the word Jesus, and not anybody else's-- is a really long story, a really long painful personal story. And it was one of the quotes used most often to cause so much pain in my life that I grew to absolutely hate it. And yes, the power that used it, abused it. It's amazing what people would do when their beliefs blind them to the point of psychologically (or otherwise) abusing others and breaking the law.

I really hate "Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it." The reason being, anytime someone says that it's in the snottiest way they can. Bastages...
They did drive the Jesus quote into the ground...especially since no on knew what they were talking about when they said it. Jesus was constantly telling people off and speaking his mind, why get mad when I do it?

Btw, my father said the first quote to me, and my grandmother said the 2nd quote to me, to clarify that, although that probably isnt important to the subject. Either way, those, as well as many religious quotes bother me to no end...
