They've been unusable for a while now...one day they will make a stunning return and we will dance in the streets and carry Forrest on our shoulders for finally getting around to it.

He's a busy a fella though...no real shock that lil feature is way down low on his to do list.

You know, you are correct. To be wholly honest, I am aware that some people are really eager to have the PM ability again, but it's not really my favorite feature. Yes, I will make them available sometime very soon(ish), but given the way they were abused by spammers and abusive trolls and such, I'm personally a lot more comfortable with open public communication. Building a system robust enough to handle the types of people that like to pull all sorts of negative trickery when it's hidden from the general community is actually pretty difficult, and a bit depressing that such safeguards are required at all, actually.

it doesnt bug me much.. people know how to get ahold of me if they REALLY wanted to! I think it's good to have them off anyways..a lot of new members would abuse the system like you said..unless you integrated some sort of "you need so many posts before you can use this feature" or unless you manually activate them to use it upon their activty in the community

Jason, if you could refrain from using the 'report post' function seemingly somewhat randomly, that would be helpful. It is there for reporting genuinely problematic posts, not just to say hi and whatnot. Just wanted to help, in case you were unsure about what you were doing.
