I think it's safe to say there's more than one jazz station on last.fm - even if you're solely interested in Scandinavian folk jazz from 1952 to 1954, there's undoubtedly a tag for it.
That's what the Web is for - you get to meet hideously strange people you wouldn't want to find sitting next to you on the bus, and steal their thoughts.
Personally I've got last.fm on most of the time I'm working, unless work means I have to listen to someone else's excuse for a tune. Don't tend to listen to podcasts, if only because I can read faster than they talk; but breakfasts are always spent with BBC radio 4. You've never really enjoyed a boiled egg until it's accompanied by Melvin Bragg debating the merits of logical positivism. It's no good at work though, as I end up thinking too much and working too little; not an issue with NDH.
