In our leap forward this year, the rites of spring thus commence. I am excited to see so many on BB taking their own leaps into the new and unknown. As the days grow longer, may your hopes and dreams come into fruition. The full moon will technically begin at about 1:20 PM EST tomorrow. Have a spooky and safe weekend. For me, these days always mark a bit of remembrance followed by the bliss of new beginnings. Raise the sails, as our darkened ships thrust us into the future!

For some. Amongst Orthodox I know, he just reanimates come sunday. The actual crucifixion isn't "celebrated" in the same manner. The Orthodox Cross (at least in Russia and Ukraine) takes on a different meaning:

The Orthodox cross, made up of two horizontal and one diagonal bar crossing a vertical pole, is the symbol of the Russian Orthodox Church. The upper bar represents the sign "INRI," ("Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews") the mocking title bestowed on Christ by the Romans in the New testament account of the crucifixion.

The lower, slanted bar is simply a stylized footrest, a common design in early Christian crosses. Later folklore holds that the lower end points to hell, and the upper to heaven, representing the destinies of the two thieves crucified with Christ. The first thief, repentant, went to heaven, the second, who did not regret his sin, to hell.

By this logic, we simply need hedge our bets and repent on our deathbeds. It is a real party religion.
