Some are funny, but too many of them totally miss the Macro humor. It isn't a funny macro just because you wrote something rude on a picture, that's something else. FAIL. Cat Macros are not just about being rude to kittens. It's the cat is saying something funny or a funny observation of pose or expression, such as invisible cheeseburger or ORLY?

Well, some folks pointed out that Cheeseburgers were not invented till 10 years after the comic, but then again they sourced Wiki with the info, so it's probably ALL questionable.

It bothers me that those people's ambient hatred and negativity prevents them from being really humorous. I mean, it's not that ten to twenty year old primetime sitcom 'zingers' don't have their place in the world of humor, but it's just so low end. Invisible bicycle is funny, putting a petty mean statement on a picture of an overweight person isn't really that funny, in the grander scheme of things. The LOLCats concept was not to just be a dick to people's pets and make them regret ever putting a cute picture online. It's about attaching a humorous sentiment to a sort of non sequitur picture to emphasise or add impact to the specific expression or pose.

This is why I took a picture of me in my "Shaun of the Dead" outfit and macroed it myself. If you can't take the piss out of yourself, or have a sense of humour, you shouldn't expect to be able to do the same to other people.
