    Default hey elitists from LA

I've been listening to this pretty schweet ska song lately called LAX by Big D and the Kids Table. I know some of you are from LA, so maybe you can appreciate it, all in all I'm sure most of us can, it's a good song. here it goes:

hey, elitists from L.A.; Los Angeles, California
    you know who you are
    you're driving fancy cars
    your allowance exceeds my rent
well listen to what I have to say
    remind yourselves every day
let's get the message on its way

    well first of all,
    fuck your fucking attitudes
how can you be so fucking rude?
you fucking look at me like when girls are jealous
and fuck your fucking L.A. bars
you're all a bunch of wannabe superstars
    yeah, fuck your fucking act
you're a bunch of dressed up fucking rats

    you get anything you want
    mommy's jobless fucking runt
you're fucking lounging in daddy's fucking mansion
and all your fucking stupid names
Blair and Tavis, that's fucking lame
    Z-A-H-C does not spell Zack,
what the fuck is with all that?

And you think you're so fucking impressive
Cause you can get your name on the fucking guestlist
raise your nose to the people in line
give the doorman a fucking high five

    and then go
do my shoes match my shirt?
does my shirt clash with my pants?
do my pants match my eyes?
do my eyes look good tonight?
will this place be cool enough?
your hair looks oh, so tough
this looks so good for us
tonight my money's gonna buy me love

and fuck all of your deceiving
what's your fake heart fake fucking bleeding?
and all the girls you lay to your mat
are the same fucking girls you fucking laugh at
and fuck your fucking fake ass world
and all your handed out fucking thrills
some of us, we have to work hard
just to get our little part
and maybe your glamour's not in Boston
but my friends are fucking awesome
and we'll keep on doing our best
even though our lives are a mess

    and we go
will this check support this tour?
will this tour lose my job?
without my job where's the rent?
should we all just call it quits?
the dinner dates sure cost a lot
when 28 bucks is all you got
and your life is at a stop
and all your dreams are all self-taught

and this is the difference between our lives
no wonder tonight you feel alright
and I'm sorry if my mind is occupied
I'm trying to forget to wonder why
    we're built up from nothing
I'm trying to forget to wonder why

Cool song. Totally true about LA.

Wannabe stars are the worst kind.
I don't mind the ones who are hopeful, etc...
But the ones that act like they are better than
other people, just because they are some actor's assistant,
or because they have a band, etc...

But it only really gets to you if you take it seriously.
If you can laugh at those people...hell, you'll be laughing all the time!
Because there are plenty of them to laugh at.

Yup...and it's those who do that are just as bad as what they complain about. They whine, bitch, and moan about all this elitest superiour crap when it's only them who take it to heart.

So you have a band, you work for a celeb, you get into all the good clubs,...that's great. Then you can pay for the next round.

    It's all about perspective.

I won't appologize for living here if that's what they're after...not with a gun to my head would anyone ever get me to live back east or the midwest. I hate snow too much. Silly reason but I'm part lizard so what can I say.

The midwest...too scary for a fella like me.

Reading through the song...it's kinda funny that those who would fit that stereotype so well don't really live in L.A. County. But then it's like Hollywood...most of the major studio's are not there anymore.

Do you mean you feel like that is more a Vancouver or Austin thing or an 818/714/949/909 thing?

The studios are still here. They just don't shoot the movies here anymore, because labor is cheaper elsewhere. Canada, Eastern Europe, Australia, etc... No unions, etc... But even though a lot of the movie work gets done elsewhere, Hollywood is still the center of the movie "business".

As far as people acting the snobby hollywood role, I think that it does tend to be people who came here from other places. People who lived here for a while are used to it. People who come here from someplace else have something to prove. To themselves, to their friends, parents, peers, etc... They came to Hollywood to be in the movies, and by god, they are going to make sure that everyone knows how "connected" they are... They can't stand to tell the reality, that they are only making minimum wage, or working 2 jobs as a waiter/waitress, etc... Even if they have no connection at all, they still demand respect for their "undiscovered talent"... Rock bands are the worst at this. They think everyone should kiss their ass, because they will soon be rock stars.

Indeed they are but I meant it more literally in that the major studio's are not physically IN Hollywood...Burbank may be closer to what many think Hollywood is...better chance of catching a celeb there too.

Same for any of the cities that harbor a major studio.

Yeah that...if you're gonna call L.A. elitest then at least get all the right culprits in line for the shot.
