Default A lil picture of Iraq

Earlier in the month GNN's Borzou Daragahi wrote a very interesting and rather eye opening article/letter from the new capital of Hell, Baghdad.

You can read it here: http://www.guerrillanews.com/article...cle.php?id=721

It's a growing kind of astory that gets past the politics into the reality of the situation and the problems faced. What one tends to come away with is a questioning of how can this be solved without leaving Iraqi's high and dry. The double edged sword of these articles and truth's is that as American's and UK citizens...we really don't want our kids, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, etc. getting killed by the very people they helped free. How much control can politicians half a world away have over problems that realisticly are out of their hands? Legislations, debate, and near endless critiques are great but if a solution does not come out of it all...then we're killing our own people in the same way the enemy is.

From both Presidential Candidates I've yet to here any hard and clear plans for Iraq...between Bush double talking and using catch phrases to Kerry's go to my website line and near idential catch phrasing double talk...one has to ask...of they don't know...who the fuck does?

Articles like this paint a Grim picture that can be easily capitalized on but at the same time one does have to ask...is anything good going on over there?

None of this will be answered come Tuesday...but they better fucking be answered by NEXT Tuesday.

There are no answers. The US and UK entered this invasion / war without a clear picture of what would need to be done after the war. It is much the same as in Afghanistan; the war there is not over and the elections held (so much later than promised) are hardly representative.

Previous wars have always been enter, fight, win, leave. The guidelines have changed, but the mindset behind the enter phase has not.

only a politician can NOT show up to his job half the time and still get payed then spend the other half of the time trying to keep it which in turn takes him away FROM the job he's trying to keep!

It's true that they need to find an answer, but the fact remains that there are no answers at the moment. There will be no answers so long as the West fails to understand the way the Arabic world operates. There is no separation of church and state, there is no separate law empowering women or democratic elections or Human Rights as we understand them. The majority of the countries where we, as Westerners, have interfered or tried to exert our influences are now bankrupted, suffering famine and pestilence, corrupted and generally beyond redemption. Is the same to happen in Iraq? I believe so, because the West failed to understand that these are people with a totally different outlook on life to ours.

There are no answers because the US and UK (with allies) wish to convert Iraq and other countries to their way of thinking, and they make exceptionally bad missionaries.
