Default who had the better concept?

of the two greatest american zombie film directors,
(john russo and george a. romero)
who had the better concept for their films?

you see, if you look back on night of the living dead, the director credits go to both russo and romero because they both worked on it after being inspired by the book "I am legend" But when it came time for the idea of sequels, they both had two totally different ideas on how to approach it.
romero Wanted it to be films about the invasion spreading gradually while russo wanted the sequels to show that the invasion was stopped and detained only to be released again by accident (this is u.s army weld son, it'll never bust....hisssssssssssssss)

hence the question I asked, whose idea did you like better and to top it, whose films were better? (we'll exclude return of the lviing dead 2 cus It was just sad.)

Romero. Because the concept of the sickness being detained and perpetually accidentally let loose can quickly become campy, dull, and limited. Whereas Romero's concept allows it to grow as a genera striding world. As well as giving the whole isolationistic idea to grow with the times.

I agree too. If you catch all the russo based films (which there will be five by the end of the year now)It's always the same thing happening just in different areas to different people while romeros were always gradual changes even though same undertone./anyone catch savinni's cameo in the remake of dawn? He's gonna be in land as a zombie.

Romero films are superior in many ways , but I am very leary of this new one. Making a thinking zombie turns the genre into a place ,in my opinion, it shouldn't go.

What's the difference between a thinking zombie and some alien? Or even just some asylum killer? A thinking zombie destroys the status quo, and turns a beloved horror creature into the same ole slasher hat. What would we think of our vampire stereotype if he picked up an uzi and just mowed people down.

yeah, i'd have to go for romero. the trilogy of the dead is pretty much the only zombie films i really love. and versus. and shaun of the dead, actually, i'll retract that last statement...

off the point a little, was i the only person who thought the remake of dawn of the dead sucked massive logs?

I saw very little quality in Shaun of the Dead that made it more than mildly amusing at best the FIRST time, let alone the dozen I've been forced to watch.

well, i'm a huge fan of spaced, so i'm gonna be on it's side automatically, plus i laughed my ass off all the way through. i can understand why people wouldn't find it funny though, even though i did.

The one piece of quality enjoyment I recieved from it was when Shaun and Ed are coming home drunk, and they see the zombie staggering down the road moaning intermitandly between their song.
That had a bit of merit.

I kinda like the concept of the zombies adapting to their environment. and, if you think of it-it does make sense if theyre fresh because their brain would stillll have some non basic functions like logic and reasoning. I kinda liked the new dawn. It diditn have the biker gang or the hare krishna zombie in it but It had it's moments.ofcourse I watched the directors cut version whenit came out on dvd....always watch directorss cuts kiddies! and is that new zombies a remake of an old one or just a new idea altogether? havent seen any news about it on everything zombie.

thres this guy in mesa whose working on a zombie film and was looking for extras and I volunteered and brought up the idea of a drag queen zombie (because if you notice you never see any gay bars or gay zombies in movies) he thought it was cool but couldnt get the funding to do it.

Return of the Living Dead is an awesome COMEDY.

You can't compare it to zombie movies that are trying to be serious.

actually, the return series started out as a comedy. Nobody really got that from the first one. the second one sucked donkey balls (I mean-cmon a micheal jackson zombie pops outa nowhere?)
and the htird one was supposed to be serious as well as the next two-necropolis and rave from the grave (rave from the grave however just sounds like its gonna suck and alot of reviewrs aree saying it does. big time.)
shaun of the dead was a comedy, so was dead alive. i still consider them zombie flicks though. Zombie flicks dont have to be serious. that's like saying anne rice books have to be good.

    there is one called:
RE-PENETRATOR is the story of a stripper (Joanna Angel), who after being dead for twenty years, is resurrected back to life by a perverted mad scientist (Dr. Breast).
