It is when someone says something that can mean one thing but can be taken another way.....the double meaning is alot of times sexual in nature.

i know what the term means but i never understood why it was called "tongue in cheek"... it doesn't seem to make any sense really.. I don't put my tongue in my cheek when I see tongue-in-cheek humour. I wonder how that started...

actually it refer to the fact that in part it might have a double meaning but tongue in cheek refers to synical humor where the recievier of the humorous fodder has no idea that it's about them or directed at them...hence why you put yer tongue in your cheek as to try not to laugh at thier lack of "with
it ability" You're biting your tongue as not to laugh at the poor souls humours state of affairs because of thier lack of knowedge that it's aimed at them political humor is often called tongue in cheek.....think about way back when kings were around...you couldn't exacley go King BrightStar whit is dim....youd figure it out...but to say lose your twinkle? you might not quite catch whil the others do...no worries Brighty...

You mean like: "The lights arent all on upstairs in that teacher's attic?"
