    Default Cabin Fever

So, yeah I'm stuck here in Pittsburgh. I love this city for all the educational opportunities it has given me. This has, in many ways, been a great few years. Still, I'm a California boy.
Does anyone else get cabin fever? How do you cope with it?

I'm originally from Chicago. Right now I live in Topeka though, but I cope by going to Kansas City and Lawrence to do things I would have done if I were still in Chicago. I miss the city very much. I'm sure I'll feel the same about this country (more or less) when I go to Europe.

I get that quite often. I really like picking up either the newspaper or the cool (read free) paper in the area and picking something at random to do. Since I'm generally broke it's usually free things but I like doing that. Find something new that could be close by. I also like riding the bus somewhere and just walking around for a little bit weather permitting. Watch the people, look at the houses. Maybe talk to people if I feel like it.

You'd be amazed at what you can find in a place that you are already bored with.

I never really get bored, just a bit cooped up. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll have to check the City Paper soon. I think part of it is just really missing my friends and family.

I'm originally from London and now live in a very small (by comparison) town. No, I don't miss it!

Heh. Most of the time I live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere. For shits and giggles sometimes its nice to get all decked out and wander downtown. Or for late nighters like me, do the same and wander around Wal-Mart.

I'd also suggest looking for a kooky little restaurant. Its nice when you have cabin fever to go and people watch, especially in a little place with interesting abience. Try doing an online cityserch for Pittsburg to scope stuff out.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll definitely start looking around more. It's been a great stay here, just hitting a major lag as I've finished most of my objectiives.
