never saw it.....i don't really get to theaters often, dont like too...
sad thing is that's the ONLY thing in this shit town...
omg dont get me started on tht film
got to be when they are all practiseing to pretend to be zombies
it's on dvd now. I dont go either because I dont like people too much so i wait for it to come out on dvd but that movie is a must for zombie fans! there are so many fucking hidden refferences to other zombie flicks in it that it'll make your head spin! lol the two biggest ones are shauns mom, barbara and liz's friend david who has fucking glasses and talks just like david
i'm gonna have to see it then......
unless you got a good sound system, you may need it on subtitles I did so I could catch all the refferecnes. it's worth it. there are tons of refs. tons of night of the living refs especially along with a dead alive refference at the end and a few return refferences oh! and a very obvious evil dead refference as well. it's worth it!
the commentaries are excellent too
i'll have to check those out. I loved the deleted scenes with all the beatles jokes cuz I hate the beatles. lol second favoirt is the part where their singing "white lines" and the zombie starts moaning...oh! and the monkey impersination ed does. the deletes are even better. lol "cafe olay por vous!" lol
david: "because of captain wow there"
and the 'girl in the garden' scene, and the look on eds face when he's winding on the camera. and 'i am a prick' on the back of petes jacket. shit, lets throw in shauns "Whats the matter david? you never taken a short cut before?" cue smug look and pratfall.
am now stopping before i quote the whole film. and move onto summarising 'spaced'.
the lot of a geek is a hard one.
yeh,t he fucking camera winding was funny too. have althouhg the david scene is better in the deleted scenes because his girlfriend says in the end..."wow, that really took some guts." that has gotta be one of the sickest fucking scenes I have ever seen in a zombie flick. lol
anybody else notice that amy was the cashier at the gorcer int hebegining credits of the film?
i don't know if you have it on the US version of the dvd, but there's a 'trivia track' set of subtitles with trivial bits of stuff, like how ed's drinking plan reflects the following days events, what the music is, what various cast members second ablums they ever bought were...Originally Posted by malcolm
seriously, if you want anally retentive information about shaun of the dead then hassle me - i'm a member of the forum and everything. to prove it - davids death was based on the death of the sadistic captain in day of the dead.
geek overload.......................................... .
anddavid in general is based on barbaras brother from night of the living dead including the glasses and attitude.lol. I am a huge zombi fan! especially romero's works. so, do you have any of the comic books of shaun? I caught it was a comic book before a movie.
When they are comming home from the Winchester drunk and are singing with the zombie walking down the street moaning....I laughed till I hurt watching this movie
" stumbling and singing"duna duna duna dun
"enter zombie" UUUUUUUUNNNGGGGGGHHHHHHH
"singing " duna duna duna dun
"zombie again " UUUUUUUUUNGGHHHH
lolol priceless
the "zombies" that were eating the flesh in i think dawn of the dead were eating spam
OB~26
he's also based on david sumner from 'straw dogs'. the 'you're the one who's changed from a chartered accountant to charlton heston' is a reference to it.Originally Posted by malcolm
it was always a movie first, but DC released a couple of comics (as i recall) and there is an actual comic out at the mo, clicky
hope this helps![]()
oh and the part where theyre talking on the phone to his mom and ed grabs the phone and yells into it"we're coming to get you barbara!" I grew up watching the old black and white night of the lviing dead (have it on dvd-bought for just a buck! score!) and yeh, I think it was spam too. that was back in the days before the splatter king really made it big. boy, he really brought a ton of new ideas to the sfx game at the time. anyone ever read some of the shit he came up with? it's crazy that it even worked.
