    Default quick introduction

    Hello Everybody!

I'm new to this site and thought I would post a quick note of introduction.

My name is Tatum and I'm twenty two. I'm half heartedly pursuing a degree in English. I am a horror novelist, or try to be. The first book *should* begin the second round of editing (read paid butchery) within the month of February. I've been avoiding my editor, thus the delay. Work on the second book of the series is already underway. It's daunting, but with good friends and good music, it's not too bad.

Because I am a writer I spend large amounts of time in front of my computer over each sentence. For the longest time I had a fear of them. I was convinced that the computer would eat my work. Having gotten over that, I am now a fan. Living to the left of nowhere, I find that the local scene is fairly sparse, therefore I spend a lot of time online trying to connect to like minded people. However, I should point out that contrary to popular belief, I am not in fact a hermit. I go to the local goth club, Haven, religiously. Every now and then I go to the clubs in New York City. I go to concerts with friends and dance like a dork.

Music and literature are awesome things. My favorite band is the Cure. I was lucky enough to see them two years ago. I really like Qntal and the Cruxshadows. I won't list all of my favorites because that would be a lengthy list! As to literature, an obvious nod goes to Anne Rice. I prefer Jemiah Jefferson however. The Southern Vampire series is a guilty pleasure. I can't tell you how many times I've read Alice in Wonderland. I adore Byron's poetry.

Well, my quick note seems to have taken on a mind of its own! I'll end this here with hopes of meeting new people and making new friends.

    Tatum

    Thank you for your responce!

    Do you write as well?

I saw on your profile that your a Music Ed major. What grade level are you wanting to teach? For a while I wanted to teach moderate special needs students. I really like that population. I actually have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Ed and am technically teacher certified in MA, but after a teaching a nightmare preschool class, I decided that I didn't like the munckins out numbering me. I have tons of respect for those that can do it. What kinds of hoops are they (the college/ state licensing boards) making you jump through for it?

    Again, thank for dropping by!

Hey, welcome to the board, always love to have writers around. God bless you all who raise the bar for grammar on internet forums!

Good call on the Cruxshadows, but I've never heard of Qntal, I'll have to go look them up. Anyway, I hope you like it here.

Qntal is very nifty. They have a femal singer and are along a similiar idea as Cruxshadows. They sing in what I think might be Latin, but I'm just guessing. Corvus Corax is also very cool. They're an instrumental group from Germany (?). They're hard to describe, but I like them.

As to my grammar and spelling.... this is why I have an editor. I grew up all over the south, but mainly in Memphis. It's a battle not to write the way I speak, quirky lines of thought that you have to follow with a trail of bread crumbs and with a Southern accent. I try real hard though to maintain some level of grammatical correctness. It doesn't always work.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to hear from you soon!

hi, i just noticed that you said you lived in the new england area in another post. just wanted to say hi to someone else from my area on here.

haven, you say? i used to visit manray's pretty religiously when i lived in the boston area. im in the burbs now. i never made it down to Haven myself because i couldn't get enough interested parties to go there. im still waiting for manray's to reopen.

im also a writer of sorts. more poetry than prose though. i agree that editing is no fun at all. good luck with your writings.

and a late welcome to the forum

THANKS! Awesome to hear from someone from my neck of the woods (and yes, I live in the sticks. Surprised the house even supports internet access, actually, lol.) I haven't been out to Boston in a long time, but I do have friends that live out there. Maybe a visit is in order. If you ever get out to Haven I think you'll fing that everyone is pretty cool. It's kinda like family at this point. We're all we've got out here.

yeah, i was like that with manrays. kind of the only club i would go to. it would feel like a betrayal to go to another club! but no that i havent been clubbing at all for so long, it wouldnt be. just nice to go out for a night to see the scenesters. hard to really feel a part of the whole scene when ya live in the middle of nowhere. i go months at a time without seeing an alternative looking person in my daily life. part of why i love this forum so much.
