Default robot teacher unveiled in japan

saw this on the morning news today.

apparently they have just unveiled-or we're more likely just getting around to reporting it-a lifelike robotic teacher who is programmed to organise learning plans, educate and even handle unruly students

(probably not with a flamethrower and chainsaw)

but this isnt really new in japan, the model they are using is in actuality a model or robot that has served as a receptionist for over fifteen years already. i doubt it's the exact same robot but same model with new programming.

ultimately japan wants there to be a robot in eveyr house by the year 2015 and they've already come up with ones who can wash dishes, entertain elderly people as well as act as caretaker for them.

anyways, do you think a robot would make a good teacher?
or is leaving robots to educate one's children a recipe for disaster?

i dunno alot about ronots but i'd imagine a elector magnetic pulse would probably fry her circuits if she did it.

what was pretty fucked up about it was they were showing her off on the news then the news crew was showing a day camp for students over here who are making those snap together "junk" bots?

and im like-okay....japans making robots to wash dishes, make old people laugh and change their diapers, teach their kids and we're making little thingamajigas that can climb across a wire........

If she looks like 7 of 9, I'll go back to school.

you mean if the robot looks like they're 7 or 9? the one they showed look like a normal japanese/european descent female in he rearly to mid twenties.

i'd be kinda creeped out by a 7 or 9 year old being smarter than me.......that'd be like the red queen form the resident evil movies teaching class.
