I founded Blue Blood in 1992. It was originally solely a print magazine. Over the years, it has expanded into a multimedia behemoth, encompassing everything from events to content packaging and, of course, huge internet. In many ways, the original magazine was a love letter to the scene I had become a part of. The DC scene of the early 90's was this vibrant nexus of punk, fandom, and cyber cultures. In that part of the world, we were less concerned with the genre-quibbling of bigger entertainment business cities. Goth-industrial music was identified as sort of a subset of punk there. Knowing who both Gary Gygax and Wendy O. Williams were was a plus. In many ways, all scenes are global now. I have a lot of little anecdotes I want to tell about photos in this gallery from our recent East Coast tour and perhaps, over time, I will tell all. For now, some of the cool people pictured here include Blue Blood art and technical director Forrest Black, senior Blue Blood writer and BLT writer Will Judy, Cherry from the cover of Blue Blood #7 in print, Kevin from the cover of Blue Blood #5 in print, BLT and Blue Blood artist and Ego Likeness lead guitarist Steve Archer, BLT writer Greyloch, popular Blue Blood forums poster and Darkon president Inox, and of course, yours truly i.e. Amelia G and many more.
And, Kevin, thanks so much for the truly amazing sushi dinner and great company and, yes, I did take a photo of you passed out in the car. Love, Amelia G |
