Festive Ice

I’m not the biggest fan of New Years parties. I like to use the changing of the year as an opportunity to reflect on the past year, what I am happy about, and what I wish would be better. I do make New Years resolutions and I like that they help keep me on track and help me feel good about what I accomplish, instead of just sucky about what I have not done yet. I don’t really like the whole thing where strangers get to touch me at midnight and try to put their saliva in me. I’m not saying I won’t go out, but it is not my favorite thing.

Do you all have New Years plans?

If I were going to host a New Years party, however, I feel like I totally need the surreal Japanese ice mold my brother showed me. It is sort of a heat-driven auto ice sculptor, which makes diamond-shaped ice and various other festive designs. There is also something about the surface area and melting and physics and cold, but mostly I think it is neat.
