XBiz Awards 2016

So the week kicked off with the Cybersocket Awards, then the serious business of the XBiz Show convention, the Winter Wonderland party at the XBiz show, and then everything was topped off with the XBiz awards where GothicSluts.com was nominated for Adult Site of the Year – Niche. A lot of my compatriots went on to the shows in Las Vegas after this, but I’ve been learning to know my limits.

I’ve attended the XBiz Awards on and off for something a bit over a decade I think. They just keep getting more and more lavish. This year, the XBiz crew threw the event at the swanky JW Marriott inside the LA Live complex in downtown Los Angeles. The same night, Mary Kay Cosmetics was throwing a Great Gatsby party and there was some confusion in the hotel lobby over who was a pornstar and who was just a very fancy-looking successful Mary Kay rep. Both the sexy gowns and flapper gear looked hot.

Anyway, the XBiz Awards red carpet was over-the-top, with a huge wall of cameras from tons of different media outlets. One of those moments that you just can’t think about too much because it would get intimidating pretty easily. Asa Akira and Jessica Drake did the official red carpet video interviews for XBiz and Showtime and they immediately put everyone they talked to at ease. Jessica Drake was wearing this fantastic ruffled black chiffon skirt, which had a bit of a gothic vibe. When she interviewed me about the Gothic Sluts award nomination, she said that she was actually a total goth girl as a teen and spent lots of time listening to music, wearing black, alone in her room. I said I thought Jessica Drake would look amazing in black lipstick. (She is gorgeous anyway and I think everyone looks good in black lipstick.) Asa Akira responded knowingly referring to using black eyeliner to do lips. Other luminaries in attendance included — well, included a looooong list, but I’ll mention the people I think Blue Blood readers will care most about here — Aiden Starr, Buck Angel, Kelly Shibari, Nina Hartley, Ari Dee, Ashley Manta, Reid Mihalko, James Darling, Jenevieve Hexxx, Derrick Pierce, Dee Severe, Jimmy Broadway, Ashee Marie, Stephanie Berman, Nikki Hearts, Ramzi Abed, Forrest Black, that Amelia G chick, and many more.
