Catacomb Boxers from Alexander McQueen

Have you found your Halloween costume yet? Because I think I found mine! I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I’ve always been a fan of the unfortunately late fashion rebel Alexander McQueen and along with our friends (Blue Blood contributors, models, et al.) over at Haute Macabre, I’m happy to see his stylish influence living on at AlexanderMcQueen.com. In many ways his work captures the essence that is integral to the Blue Blood lifestyle and perspective. It’s punk rock and Goth on the highest end. You don’t have to be relegated to the cheap end of the mall for your look unless you choose to be.

But manifestos and lectures aside, these are the most Deathrock underwear I think I’ve ever seen. Originally, the cemetery of Innocent had been being used in France for up to ten centuries and villagers got to thinking maybe it was getting to be somewhat toxic and deathy. On November 9, 1785, the Council of State pronounced the removal and the evacuation of all of the contents of the cemetery of the Innocent ones. On April 7, 1786, after the blessing of the Parisian quarries chosen as the new destination for the remains, the removal and relocation of the dirty old bones began. They were always moved in the dead of night. The cart covered with a black veil and accompanied by a procession of priests singing burial services. This process lasted through 1788 for the cemetery of the Innocent, but the practice expanded to include collecting the bones of all the cemeteries of Paris through 1814. The Catacombs, as they became known, grew to contain the remains of around six million Parisians, with elaborate labyrinths of jaw dropping artistic arrangements all constructed with the assorted collected bones. The style is referred to as romantico-macabre and and I can’t think of a better description for a luxury pair of spooky undershorts.

Sure, they are $120, but that’s six million dead Parisians making your junk look cool.
